Un saludo amoroso para todos mis amigos de Hive, estoy complacida de estar una vez más en el compartir musical de Hive Open Mic, el tema de esta semana es ideal. Una oportunidad es una ocasión, un momento favorable o conveniente, según la definición de la RAE. Pienso en esto como una idea maravillosa, que cada segundo de nuestras vidas es una ocasión favorable para ser felices, si no es así, entonces ¿cuándo?

Para expresar como me siento con este tema, escogí una bellísima canción de Facundo Cabral: Este es un nuevo día, pues efectivamente cada día es una oportunidad para empezar de nuevo, como bien lo dice la canción. Desde que comencé a cantar esta canción, hace muchos años, lo hago acompañándola con un fragmento del poema de Mario Benedetti “Defensa de la alegría”. Le debo mucho a esta canción, me ha ayudado en los momentos más difíciles y me ha acompañado a rincones oscuros donde aprendí el verdadero significado de valorar lo que tenemos.

Hace algunos años, junto con mi pareja, compartimos con un grupo de ciudadanas que formaban parte de un programa del estado para apoyar a persona en situación de calle. Por la precarización en la que vivían, todas ellas tenían enfermedades mentales. Las recuerdo amorosamente porque con ellas cantamos muchas canciones y aunque los trabajadores del centro no le apostaban a que las mujeres lo lograrán, lo hicieron. Una de las canciones que interpretamos juntas fue “Este es un nuevo día” la cantaban apasionadamente y más de una ocasión nos dijeron lo bien que les hacía cantarlas en las mañanas.

Tengo muchos años cantando esta canción y lo he hecho en muchos lugares para muchas personas, pero esta experiencia que les cuento le dio un sentido mucho más profundo. Les dedico este post a mis amigas, quienes me enseñaron que cada día es una oportunidad. Para ellas era una oportunidad tener un espacio para cantar y recrearse y para mí fue una oportunidad para aprender a valorar aún más la vida.

A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, I am pleased to be once again in the musical sharing of Hive Open Mic, this week's theme is ideal. An opportunity is an occasion, a favorable or convenient moment, according to the RAE definition. I think of this as a wonderful idea, that every second of our lives is a favorable occasion to be happy, if not, then when?

To express how I feel about this subject, I chose a beautiful song by Facundo Cabral: Este es un nuevo día, because indeed every day is an opportunity to start again, as the song says. Since I started singing this song, many years ago, I sing it with a fragment of Mario Benedetti's poem "Defensa de la alegría" (Defense of Joy). I owe a lot to this song, it has helped me in the most difficult moments and has accompanied me to dark corners where I learned the true meaning of valuing what we have.

Some years ago, together with my partner, we shared with a group of women citizens who were part of a state program to support people in street situations. Because of the precariousness in which they lived, all of them were mentally ill. I remember them fondly because we sang many songs with them and although the workers at the center did not believe that the women would make it, they did. One of the songs we performed together was "This is a new day" they sang it passionately and more than once they told us how good it made them sing it in the mornings.

I have many years singing this song and I have done it in many places for many people, but this experience that I am telling you about gave it a much deeper meaning. I dedicate this post to my friends, who taught me that every day is an opportunity. For them it was an opportunity to have a space to sing and recreate and for me it was an opportunity to learn to value life even more.
