The Color of Bliss

avatar

Life is made up of a few moments all strung together like pearls. Each moment is a pearl, and it is up to us to pick the ones with the highest luster. If we do not have time to do great things, take a few gentle moments and do small things in a great way.

Joyce Hilfer

The day was full of optimism, the sun was shining, and leaves, a bold vibrancy in their color - their beauty bathing my soul in the springs of spirtual waters. We were on a mission of sorts today. One of my sisters-in-law is a dyed in the wool Florida girl who has never seen a real Autumn. Our mission today was to gather the prettiest leaves we could find and plasticize them with clear packing tape and ship them off to her. We do it every year since 2010, and every year she is surprised to see them. Such a small thing that gives her months of pleasure. If you pick the right leaves, they take forever to trun brown. I usually find some pretty Maple trees.

Such a small thing that gives her a great amount of joy. She delights in the foliage of Autumn. The falling colors is what she calls them. I just call them pretty. Did you get beautiful leaves this year, or are you in a tropical splendor. I don't think you can go wrong either way!

20221106_095241 a.jpg

The day belongs to my two guys, @c0ff33a, and his #SublimeSunday. Where you can post your random thoughts and dreams between the lines. I thank him in advance for this opportunity to throw caution to the wind and let it flow. Definitely a #SublimeSunday in the making, by the Meister of my morning, @c0ff33a. I do love my @c0ff33a and he likes eclectic! A match made in heaven. And @Ace108? #BeautifulSunday is hosted by @Ace108. You post what your Sunday is like, what you did, and where you went. It just wouldn't be Sunday without it!

We spent hours today, sorting through the different leaves, in various locations. I found some out on the battlefield earlier and I think that I will wait a few days to send those, along with pictures of where they came from. I think she would enjoy that.

20221106_095051.jpg

I knew before I saw you
Your touch would take me down
From the bottom to the top
In a moment I'll be gone
Once, all over again

20221106_094727.jpg

The above pictre is a complex sort of picture in many ways. It has so much going on, and really looks better when it is larger. Back to the leaves: So short lived this lovely time of year is. But, still, the year would not be complete without it. We picked up 50 leaves and had to choose seven to ten that we liked the best. The branches so golden, all that sunshine will be gone in days. But having pictures saves the day.

20221106_095359.jpg

I find it my duty to lament the loss of those golden days, yes? Oh, summer! Wherefore art thou? I never even had time to say goodbye. As beautiful as the Autumn is, I can feel the days racing toward the very end, until, alas, they are all but gone. Never forget the joy in what you’re doing, even the simplest things, making the most of every experience, making all of your moments count for something. As always, keep on singing that song!! And just like that, this post is done. Thank you for stopping by and saying hello, leaving your words behind...I want to thank @ace108 and @c0ff33a for hosting these wonderful challenges! Where would we be without a sublimely beautiful Sunday? Hive on! That never gets old! Love to all! ❤️

20221106_095018 (2).jpg

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

flowers.jpg

Autumnal colors of bliss. I inhale the love, concealed by the beauty of the universe, the rare tapestry that I wish to run my fingers through. Today is a perfect day for a perfect day, but, isn't it always? There must always be a flower to color my world. #alwaysaflower

How could I deny you
The last chance of the season
To make it all right

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

She should be happy to receive this beautiful gift from you every year! Indeed she is a lucky girl. I also never seen real autumn in life and also never experience snow fall because these things doesn't happen in our country. I wish to get a chance (work permit visa) to visit US and enjoy such things not available here. I love my country but I'm also curious about things I never experienced before.

It always a great joy when someone sending us gift every year, doesn't matter how big or small the gift is, if something is matter is that someone somewhere thinking about us and planning for a gift. One of the great blessing. Awesome maple leaves and all photographs, Love you mam! You're such a sweetheart. Stay blessed!! ❤️❤️❤️

My sister-in-law is very appreciative and she does love them! :) I do this because of the joy she gets from it. It is always nice when you can give something that makes another so happy.

You are looking to work in the US? I can understand it as at one point I was living in Europe and was looking to stay there longer and work for a while. I did not, but, it was fun thinking about it. It all worked out and I am happy with the way life worked out.

Thank you for appreciating the post. The maple leaves are my favorite! Also the crepe myrtle. Those are the red and yellow trees you see. I hope you are having a great week!

No actually my country will allow me visa when someone from US will send me work proposal with some papers or valid documents. I want work visa to go there and then I can continue my freelancing as always. I need visa not work actually. My plan to move US in future and I need a reason to go there. I'm sure your sister in law is a sweetheart too. Thanks dear for your kind reply. Have a nice day 💖❤️💝

She is definitely a sweetheart! You too!

Thank you so much, Mick! @stresskiller The colors are brilliant right now, a short show, but, the colors are rich and peaked through the weekend.

Le sigh.

The autumnal colors are fast and furious. Such beauty is usually fleeting at best. I hope you are having a wonderful week and you are getting some playtime with your lenses!

Thanks for stopping by!

Do you not get the changing of the colors where you are? I guess I didn't realize that.

I hope that you are off to a wonderful week, my friend! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your words.

On the coast very little change mostly ever green, inland we get the colours at fall.

Have a lovely week, enjoy your walks kick a few leaves around for me too.... 🙃

Pines line many of our beaches, they lose needles but still remain green throughout the year. Very similar!

I never thought of laminating the colorful autumn leaves. Magda is madly in love with gathering them, but it's not long before the colors die and turn an ugly brown. I've now got a wonderful way to keep them and thank you for it, as your sister-in-law thanks you every year.

Nice gesture of friendship and love!

All your photos seem to be taken here at my place. Once again I see, thanks to you, how similar my climate is to that of Washington D.C..., it is incredible! I'm thinking of starting to look, maybe I'll find a "White House", hahah...

Thanks for everything, @dswigle!

Oh, she will love it then! I try to get them when they are at their best, before decomposition, although sometimes a little bit of that is interesting. I love gathering them also, it really all started when the kids were three and four and they were fascinated by the colors. Some last and others don't. Interesting to find the ones that do!

I find it amazing that we live in sister cities. :) Maybe you will find a White House, although... well, I will say no more, but, I hope you find the real White House. :)

Hi, Dan! Good morning! I hope your week is absolutely wonderful!

I find it such a glorious state to find my trees in! Brilliant, making the landscape come alive.

My sister-in-law loves them and gets such great joy out of them. I am so happy to be a part of that!

I hope you are having a wonderful week, Jackie @littlebee4 Things are certainly feeling more normal as the days go by, so hopefully this will be a happy and healthy winter for all of us!

That's pretty cool that you can preserve the leaves and that you send them to you sister in law to enjoy. That's a good idea. What does she do with them - anything in particular or just look at them and enjoy them for as long as she can?

0

avatar

She really doesn't do too much with them, although one year she made a leaf tree, sort of like a Christmas tree or Easter tree, but strung the leaves on the tree. :)

Other than that, she just enjoys the autumnal beauty. Not having it, she really does enjoy it. If you have any ideas on what to do with them, I am all ears! :)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words. I wasn't being a smart alec, I was serious. It would be cool to think something up. :)

Have a great day!

Yeah I'm not sure what else you could do with them. It would be cool to frame one in a shadow box if there was a way to preserve it permanently. But I don't know how to do that. A layer of Epoxy maybe?

One fall when I lived in Texas, my Mom sent me a box of colorful leaves. I had no idea she was going to do it. She didn't preserve them, but she picked them up and sent them while they were fresh and still pliable and I put them on a heart shaped tray where they slowly dried and curled. Thing is, without the dampness that the leaves experience outside, most kept a lot of their color after they dried and were pretty for a long time.

This morning as I flitted about the kitchen getting my drinks and snacks ready to take back to my work desk, I noticed the 7 Bradford Pear trees across the back of the yard were alive with birds. Small birds, and larger ones, Robins, Bluejays.... and they were busy, busy, everywhere ! Turns out they are after the seeds of the tiny, mangled pears (that don't look like pears). I kept stopping to watch. I would like to watch more, but alas, I am about to slip over to the work desk. It was fun to see though and started my day off with a few smiles.

Yes! They do!!! I knew she wanted to have them as long as possible, the only reason I laminated/covered them in plastic tape. Wasn't that fun to get? We all know Texas doesn't have anything but live dead oak trees. LOL

Oh!! I have a Bradford Pear and they are purely ornamental (I thought) but I guess they do have a seed from the amazing flowers they produce. They are on the invasive species list FYI and although they are beautiful, the Asian imports will take over. See here It has been known for years and now, several States have banned them. Our landscaper put on in our yard. Worse yet, I approved it. Ha!

Still, they are beautiful! Thanks for stopping by, El. @jacey.boldart I hope you are having a great day and those phone calls are nonexistant.

I have heard or seen multiple times that the trees are invasive and all this activity is why.... the birds will be spreading those seeds out all over ! I didn't plant these either, but my Uncle did years ago before I got here when they were all the rage at the garden centers. Who knew ??

As much as I like the heat, I would hate to give up the Fall. The leaves sure know a graceful way to make their exit. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned in it. Lovely shots and it is all part of the best time of the year!

I get it. As much as I like a little bit of warmth, I love the four seasons. There is something distinct and beautiful about each one of them.

Do you want to exit like a leaf, gracefully floating away? Let me know what lesson that teaches you.

It is one of the prettiest times of the year. It just doesn't last long enough! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words.

Yes!

I look forward to it and the cooling of the humidity, although we usually are still warm like summer. Today is my first real day that I can feel the seasonal change creeping in, although there is a hurricane down south that will move through in a couple of days, and that may be the change. It will be a tropical storm and I will be traveling to the south that day. :)

Let's see if I can avoid all of the storms. :)

Thank you for stopping by, it is always good to see you!

I feel that this writing is a metaphor for life, I love it. I simply think of the tree as the universe and the leaf, how insignificant the sighs of experience can become, its very branches are sustained with all their being, watching storms and joys pass by. When the seasons change, they become more and more fragile, but that does not prevent them from continuing to have color, the color that represents existence itself. How I like the leaves! I would like to see more photographs with reference to those colors. I like the warm, it shakes my heart. See you next time! 😊
