Have you ever looked for things that you usually see almost every day? This happened with the main character of my story - I have been seaching for almost a week until I found some goats in Slovenia.

Well, the story of the Silver Goat began quite a while ago on another blockchain, where many of us have been before we changed to the Hive.

If you want to read the long story, then please read on, or otherwise scroll down, enjoy my photos while scrolling and then read the short story which is only one sentence long :)

I don't know if you remember the other blockchain where we have been before we moved to the Hive, but the name of that blockchain doesn't play a role here anyway.

I also don't know if you remember the King of the Engagement League there, the one and only @janton.

It happened that a few months after I had joined that blockchain, I've got some comments by someone with the name @janton. He was asking a lot of questions and every answer I gave resulted in another question. These were mostly quite funny questions about me and my country, about my job and about my family ... and I have learned a lot of his life too, of course.

Oh man, this guy was curious and sometimes I wished his Missus would lock him up in her prison for a couple of days because my fingers were almost bleeding from typing replies, but to be honest, it was a lot of fun ;)

Short time later I found out that I was not the only "victim" of @janton, and apart from his natural curiosity, the reason to write tons of comments was the EL, the Engagement League, which later has also moved with us to the Hive. @janton was a little addicted to the blockchain and to the EL and his Missus has often had to stop him and force him to leave the computer and get some fresh air or hunt snakes around the house. But that would be another nice story, as well as later I have also got quite addicted to the EL and typed more comments than ever before.

He knew from our many conversations that I love the mountains and to hike and I have also told him that I had a goatee these days. So, one day he smiled and called me an Austrian Mountain Goat ... my new nickname was born and many conversations and funny stories around the goat were following.

I don't know how, but the Mountain Goat followed me also to the Hive and quite a few people know who the Austrian Mountain Goat is - Zac Smith aka @papilloncharity, you know what I'm talking about 🤣 lol

One day the South African Lady @Lizelle thought it would be a good idea to support the elderly people on the Hive and founded the Silver Bloggers Community. Because I'm well over 40 and I blog from time to time, I meet the main criteria to become a member of this great Community of great people. Later they asked for a special Silver Bloggers name. So what could be more natural than to call me Silver Goat, because Austrian Silver Mountain Goat would have been too long I believe 😎

Long story short

@janton had the idea of calling me the Austrian Mountain Goat, I liked it somehow, kept that nickname that is now Silver Goat inside the Silver Bloggers Community.

I've called your name a lot times now, my friend @janton, many people here would love to know how you and your Missus are and if everything's going well in the state of Texas, and I hope you don't mind me telling the above ... it's too late anyway ;)

In the beginning I mentioned that I have found the goats in Slovenia. That's right, but when I first saw them on Saturday I was on my way home and couldn't stop because of a lot of traffic and because I thought I would find a nicer goat somewhere at home anyway. Wrong thought - I was searching Saturday evening and all Sunday morning till I decided to head to Slovenia again ... and they have been waiting for me 😁 I know this isn't a mountain goat, but goat is goat, isn't it? And he looks sooo cute with his dreamy eyes 😉

One last thing before I end this post

Information

When I started this post I have had no idea which photos I could post with the story. Even though I have got this nickname a while ago I had no image of a goat, especially not of a mountain goat, but there were still a few days left till I wanted to publish this post, and maybe a visit to one of my favourite spots in Slovenia in addition to my usual places ;)

All photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, Sigma 100-400mm F5-6,3 DG OS HSM C.

In some tourist areas or wildlife parks the animals are so used of people that they are not scared at all of them anymore, but I have no idea where you have taken this photo, sorry ;)

Oh, that's very close from where I live. We have often visited this park when the kids were younger and my son was there last weekend with his girlfriend. That's a really nice surprise 😃

Great. I wish you many new waterfall findings, big and small ones. For example, there are plenty of them in Logarska dolina.

You should definitively visit Logar valley. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful Alpine valley.

Ja, Paulitschpass, natürlich :)

My wife is from this area, my father is from Ljubno which is 20 kilometers down the road, we have our second home in Solčava, which is 5 kilometers from the valley. I should know it :)

Next time you are there, give me an advance call. Maybe we can meet.

Are there new measures? The next wave is already here? I thought it would come in October. I'm only joking 😉
I have recovered from Covid, so I have my papers to travel anywhere, but the last two times I had to wait half an hour to cross the border from Italy to Austria because everybody got controlled. I think they have the army controlling on the Paulitschpass from time to time, but I'm not sure. So it might be the only border which you could cross without getting seen ;)

You have taken many beautiful goats. Its scenery in Slovenia is very beautiful. The waterfall scene and the pictures of the mountains are impossibly beautiful. Friend, I enjoyed your story later.

I remember @janton so well, he suddenly popped up on my screen out of nowhere way back when; I'd never met him before but was he chatty! A really interesting gent, I'd love to know what he's up to now!

It was a pleasure for me to write this post and I was so glad that I have seen these goats at the roadside ... and I was happy that they were still there the next day and that they liked my granola bars which I fed them to pose nicely for me 😊

Oops, clicked too fast ... it was really hard to find goats, don't know why there haven't been any around at the farms 😊 This billy goat was quite dirty and full of flies, but he looked really nice 😊

I feel bad for the Billy goat if he is dirty and fly ridden. Seems he is not looked after well by his owners.

It’s difficult for the wildlife here when the flies and ticks get on them as they have no way to swap them away. I noticed Rocky the raccoon uses his little paws to keep trying to keep the mosquitoes and flies away from his head but it would be hard to reach other places on his body.

I did get replies from @janton occasionally after he quit posting article but it has been a few months. As you mentioned, maybe he will check on Hive and see we are worried about him.

We had a few gloomy days but sun is out this morning and it looks like a wonderful day unfolding.

Oh, I don't see a problem and the goats there looked well fed and quite happy to me. Some farmers take more care about their animals and some don't, but as said, they didn't look that bad that I would have worried.

Yeah, it has been months since we had our last chat and last time I also mentioned his name in a conversation, I believe.

We also have postcard weather here - seems both of us are having nice days 😊🌞

Yes as @johannpiber mentioned Cowboy Aka @janton was always curious about what was going on with each of us and our countries. He was always interested in the snowfall here and though a cabin in the Canadian wilderness would be nice to escape the hot Texas summers.

I was always fascinated that he had a snake gun …he never knew if one would greet him when he stepped outside.

Hahaha, enjoyed your story Silver Goat @johannpiber, goats are very 'colourful' of animals, full of character. I thought you might be Silver Goat because you are always mountain climbing. When I was a boy I have spent much of the summer holidays on the mountains and often I accompanied a flock of goats. Don't ask me how I smelled in the evenings 🤣

This story and the fact that I love to be in the mountains lead @janton to call me the Austrian Mountain Goat :) I miss him too, but I'm pretty sure he's fine and Mrs J is fine too 😊

What a great choice for your #silverbloggers name! :) So fitting, especially how it came about.

Even though I knew the story, I thought it was great and a fun read! The scenery is, as always such a treat for the eyes. I take great joy in perusing your photos, just need to make more time to comment! I know firsthand how nice it feels to read through the comments.

Oh yes, the comments are often much better than even the post itself 😁
I always want to take more time to comment more, but at the moment I am happy to be able to post from time to time and to reply, although I have to admit that after work or in the evenings I could stay at home, sitting at the computer, instead of riding around 😊
But I hope that in a few months time my work will get easier because we are ongoing a huge reforming and if everything's working as planned I will get a few additional co-workers who can do my work and I can be more on the Hive 😉

You haven't seen the goat in nature, Denise, and also not the thousands of flies 😉 but he was really cute and looking so nicely into the camera after I gave him my granola bar 😁

Oh yes, you have joined the Hive last year in April when @janton was already a rare visitor here.
You would have loved him, a real Texan with pistols and riffles. If you get too close to his property without invitation he will have fun seeing you run, if you know what I mean 🤣

It's hot here - I know you will smile when I tell you it has over 30C / 86F, but for us here anything over 30C is hot 😅 But apart from the heat I'm having a busy week, but tomorrow is Friday anyway 😁

Well, one reason would be that I don't drink !BEER 🤣

The other reason is that at the moment I think I will not even have time to realize some of the plans I have made during winter.
I know it doesn't sound that way when I'm saying I go for a ride each day, but it's not easy at the moment for me and when I am out in nature or on the bike, I need a lot of time to calm down and forget ...

But times will change and there are also other Hivers living nearby. I'm not a very social person offline, prefer to be alone with nature, but to meet some of my fellow Hivers in real life one day would be nice.

Well they say that a man makes his plans and then life happens, a great truth methinks 😄

Only know that the rides are essential, as they are mentally cleansing you, which is always a great thing.

Maybe that's what you need my friend, to connect with your fellow Austrians and I also think that there are quite a few.
I am the same as out of worktime we also see very few people. We are staying here now for just over a year and I think that we have had maybe 3 visitors.
That's also why I try to be in nature at every opportunity, for the cleansing of my soul.

When I am on the bike I concentrate on the ride, and even when I try to think of other things, my mind always switches back to the ride. You are very right, I need it mentally.

Hello there Silver Goat. The story of how you chose your sassy name reminded me of a guy that was prolific at replying to every comment you sent his way. He liked to refer to himself as a Redneck Gentleman and his stories of the Old West were lots of fun to read.
I miss his wit and engagement with him.
Every so often he would do a post about different signs, some of them were hilarious.

I totally agree with you, it would be wonderful to hear how @janton is doing, he kind of fell off of the map.

Silver Goat suits you just fine, I remember all the banter too and fro with comments flowing not knowing about the EL, soon learned through @galenkp and @abh12345 who absolutely make weekends super entertaining with topic, blog followed by many comments.

Photography lulled me back into dreaming of the outdoors, how different the scenery beautiful and calm!

Back home, week went too quick, safely back with much turmoil happening in our province at the moment... Life goes on, I will be back still finding my feet and greeting once again Silver Goat AKA @johannpiber

Animals in cities are way worse and fearsome to the ones in the bush, yes back again! Played dodgems with mayhem down the freeway with fires, accidents, upheaval evident everywhere with our province burning again.

Had a good break, hippo smiled and danced for us, not many crocodiles on this trip nor birds.

Will elaborate when I settle to write, have yourself a great Sunday and greetings to the family. Silver Goat photo is super cute, glad you found one to demonstrate.

The most important thing is that you have had a good time out there in the wild, where the animals might want to eat you, but they are at least honest. I have no idea what kind of animals you have in the cities, but I would think of the ones who walk on two feet ;)
