Feathered Friends: The Scaly Breasted Munia

The Scaly-breasted Munia is a native bird of tropical Southeast Asia. It is also called spotted munia. Its name is based on the distinct scale-like feather markings on the breast and belly. I finally saw them making a nest in the tree, near my house. In late afternoon, I often saw them making stop on the twig for quite some times. It has been a common bird that lives around and I always wanted to shoot them. They are gregarious and often colonial seed eaters with short thick but pointed bills. Munia is also included as social bird and may sometimes roost with other species of munias

Didn't know about such a bird.
This large beak reminds me of a grosbeak or a Zebra finch.
