On Galveston Island, Texas flocks numerous Laughing Gulls daily. I've been take to capture them all year round. But the summer months, they are prevalent.

I have numerous photos of them. While visiting the Island one weekend, we decided to relax in the afternoon and watch the Laughing Gulls. In this photo, the Gulls are waiting for more bread from us. Even while waiting, they seem to maneuver themselves into a hierarchical position. There is always one Gull in front.

As I mentioned before, they land and then scurry sideways to position themselves in a certain way with a certain amount of distance between each of them. They are never in a straight line.

They provide great entertainment and are so friendly. I captured a group of them posing so that I could take a shadow snapshot. Some will land close to my chair if sitting outside.

Is he the only one allowed to sit while the others in the flock have to stand to attention?

As noted previously, Laughing Gulls are medium size gulls with long wings. Their coloring is gray on their backs, with white around their necks and underneath. The head is black. Their legs look so funny while they're attempting to get in position walking sideways.

Laughing Gulls are shorebirds found in North and South America. They are Omnivorous Birds that eat a variety of foods including insects, lizards, fish and other small sea dwellers. They are also scavengers.1 Their favorite past time is following shrimp or other boats just in case the fisherman have unwanted items they wish to throw overboard.

Maybe it is a standoff and they have to stand as long as possible - and the one sitting has just given up because his feet couldn't hold on anymore :D

Hello. Have have you been doing lately. Hope all is well. A standoff. Hadn't thought of that. I was thinking it was more like a "do as I say, not as I do. I'm the leader of this pack." It was so much fun to watch them. I could just sit for hours feeding and observing them.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read about my Laughing Gulls. Have a great rest of your week.

I found nasty month-old leftover mac and cheese in the fridge.
It was a case of age-related macaroni degeneration.
