Everybody loves the sun.

Sun and snow make magical colors.015.jpg

All puffed up in the cold the Red-faced Mousebird sat with his chest open to the sun.

At last we had a super clear day and the record breaking cold front has now made it's way inland. Being at the southern tip of the African continent, we are the first to be hit with the arctic air and it is certainly no fun. Here this morning the sun was up and the birds were all recovering from the wet and icy storms.

I think I told you that the snow was still around, as the winter sun is too cold to melt it much.

Not often that one can get the Malachite and his wife together.

They call this the Dove Preening Parlour and the poor doves had a torrid time in the frosty and wet storm.

A litle Cape White-eye was out looking at something edible.

Finally, let's go a day back and here are those same doves during a sun break in the late storm.

Wonderful to see how the birds recover after they have been pounded by the giant size rain drops. Yes, it is cold today, but bearable enough for us to escape the house for half an hour and the evidence is shown in this post.

When I say that the birds were pounded by giant sized rain drops, have a look at this guy that I got in a short break during the storm.

He didn't have an umbrella and believe me that the polar air was icy.
We all survived though, even when I have woken up about six times in bed last night. When I sleep I turn a lot and it's not nice to awake with one foot hanging off the bed and my toes blue with the cold hahaha.
Maybe I must sleep with some boots on.

And That's All Friends!
