Fun with some Bantams.

I so loved this little guy's hairstyle, and he is right up there with the latest styles.
077.jpg

It was a very hot day and we popped in at a local farm to sit under a big oak tree with a cup of true farm coffee.

The day was at 36C and they have a saying here that it gets so hot that it can make a rooster cry. Now that is so true, as we fried even during the short walk from the car to the tree. Thankfully the sun could not penetrate the leaves of that giant old oak tree and it was pleasant in its shade. Obviously the bantams also know that and I think that they were waiting for a customer to arrive. It turned out that we were the customers.
So come and see.

The ideal spot to sit as the heat can even become unbearable under those umbrellas.
001.JPG

That swanky guy in the first photo grabbed the food out of that lady's beak and just look at her disgusted face :)
119.JPG

But of course, my wife, known for her love of feeding had a royal time with the bantams.
051.JPG

I felt something tramping on my foot and there it was, inspecting the strap of my camera bag.
128.JPG

050.JPG

She even got one to take some food out of her hand.
111.JPG

032.JPG

So, I could also get the little white lady to take from my hand. But another laugh is next.
109.JPG

Look at the face of that white lady as this little black came storming in :)
110.JPG

Then that harsh Buzzard call was heard in the sky and all of the little birds and animals scattered into their hiding places.

Always something going on at the farms and it is a pleasant experience that we had here. We have seen the bantams before, but never as close as this, as we sit at this same spot under the oak tree when we come here. But this day had a different vibe to it and thankfully they sell seeds and carrots at the farm's little restaurant. Seeds for the birds and carrots for the goat tribe. There is also a big nursery on the farm where the visitors can buy indigent succulent plants and other types of flowers.
They have picnic spots available for groups and families and it was here where I opened the local police team building event with prayer.

So yes, one can never guess what awaits when one comes out to the farms as each of them have a different character and also different adventures. There is horse riding available on some farms and we also have a wide range of wine farms. It is a hikers paradise as there are many mountain trails and nature is in abundance. Take a helicopter trip, or a small plane ride and whatever you are into, I bet that you will find it here.
There are also some famous 5 star restaurants on some of the farms.
I just wanted to give you a bit of information about the area in which we live in the Western Cape Province.

Hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

And That's All Friends.

Oh wow haha. Those little guys made me smile. The looks on the faces of the ones that were robbed.😄 I would love to be in 36 C again haha.

Hahaha, thank you and yes, I also liked the look of disgust on their little faces.
Surely you will be in 36C again when your summer comes, as I presume that you are in the winter season now?

I love it when the farm animals run freely around and are not in cages or behind fences.
You have had some fun with the Bantams and of course Marian loved feeding them ... until the Buzzard came and the game had a sudden end.

The hair style of the Bantam in the first image is awesome 😀

Good afternoon Hannes,

you think the same way that I do, as it is no fun to see a caged animal, or a bird.
Marian is always in her element when she can feed something, whether it is human or animal 😊

Hahaha, I sometimes see guys walking around here with the same hairstyles 😉 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Good late afternoon Zac,

I prefer to feed animals, to be honest, but it's different here, of course.

Yep, such hair styles have been trendy here too 😂 !LOLZ

Good early afternoon Hannes,

Oh yeah, I also like to feed animals and one of the hands in the post is mine. Shame yes over there you have only doves to feed 🤣 !LOLZ

I call those hairstyles space age styles, especially when they are colored in orange and red 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good early evening Zac,

oh no, my friend, we also have cats to feed - they are always hungry 🤣 !LOLZ

I haven't seen people with such coloured hair style since years 😁

Good early evening Hannes,

oh my, I forget, you keep your animals indoors in Austria. It would look so funny if we kept two elephants indoors to feed here in our country. We would have to raise the roof and the doors a little bit methinks 🤣 !LOLZ

Normal here, as we are 20 years on average behind the first world countries 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

there's no problem for having two elephants at home. All you additionally need is a big balcony because sometimes they need fresh air 😂 !LOLZ

The !LOLZ would better belong here 😂

Greetings Hannes,

unfortunately I had no time before the power cut to do replies yesterday.

The balcony will have to be bigger than the house 🤣 LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Good afternoon Zac,

never mind, I didn't have any time yesterday anyway - we were playing cards till late ♣️♠️♦️♥️

We have just come back from a little hike with the kids and I am waiting till the shower is free, so I have some time to do a few replies 😉

Oh, we have a huge house and a balcony in elephant size wouldn't be a big problem, I believe 🤣 !LOLZ

Good afternoon Hannes,

Just came out of a power cut and we are at Level 6 now. Meaning that 8 hours of the day is lost.

I hope there was still some hot water after the kids have showered, as I know that you don't like cold showers 🤣 !LOLZ

Maybe enough space for Indian elephants, as they are smaller than the African elephants 😜

Cheers and thanks.

Good afternoon Zac,

I'm sorry for the late reply, but I didn't go online in the past two days. On Sunday we travelled back home and on the way we visited my parents, and on Monday I have had a lot to do and in the evening I needed some sleep after this hard weekend 🤣 !LOLZ

8 hours without electricity? That's mad 😱

It's a big house with many showers, so they have a huge boiler that doesn't get cold 😉

I'm back at work and have a 24-shift till tomorrow afternoon. I've been away for only a few days, but my desk's full as if I had been gone for weeks 😅

The one thing that I like about message is that you guys visited your parents, but I think that you know that Hannes and of course you never like to sacrifice your sleep 😜 !LOLZ

Even worse tomorrow my friend 😟

Ah! A boiler sounds super to me and great that the house had one 😊

Mountains of work await, and I am worried that it is going to interfere with your sleep again. One of these days you will be walking around like a zombie and totally spaced out due to a lack of sleep.
I think that you should see a doctor that can book you into a sleep clinic for a week after you have conquered the mountains of work 👍

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, we try to visit them at least once a month if possible.

You may be sure that I take care of my sleep and if i don't get enough sleep at work, I sleep at home. I prefer to get paid while sleeping at work though 😴 !LOLZ

When I return from that sleeping clinic the pile of work will even be higher than before 😅

Always happy to hear that you visited them 😉

Oh yes, by know I know your sleep preferences very well and of course the paid option is the best 🤣 !LOLZ

As you are now approaching your retirement, I think that you should slowly start handing over some of your work my friend. Maybe just start to ease off a bit so that others can know what to do the day that you leave there 😉
Then you won't need any sleep clinics.

Cheers and thanks.

I can tell you that I slept very well last night, although not enough, but it was paid sleep, so I don't want to complain 🤣🤣🤣 !LOLZ

I haven't found anyone yet who would want to do my job, but at least I have someone who does some of my work when I'm off work or on vacation. In the Autumn I might get an apprentice whom I can teach a lot ... we'll see, and then there's no sleep clinic needed, I believe 😉

Oh yes, I can see how you love the paid sleep my friend 🤣 !LOLZ

How many years is left now before the big day? 4?
An apprentice will certainly be the correct move, as long as you don't also teach him to sleep on the job 🤣🤣🤣

You won't need a sleep clinic, as you can sleep all day when you are retired 😉

Cheers and thanks.

I think I have told you that quite a few times - paid sleep is the best sleep 🤣 !LOLZ

After today it will exactly be 4 years, 6months and 7 days 😁

You're right and I have also thought of that. While I sleep he or she can work alone and I have a look at the work when I'm awake ... if I wake up long enough before I go home 😎

Oh yes you have told me that often and I have always agreed with you 😜 !LOLZ

Wow, we have come a long way and you forgot to mention the exact time 🤣

A real sleepy head is what you are my friend and I can already see that scared apprentice trying to wake you in order to ask for some advice 😮

Cheers and thanks.

What fun feeding the cute bantams. It reminds me when I (many eons ago) was on my parents farms and we had chickens that would pick at the apples as we held them.

Thank you and it was a lovely surprise Lady Jo.
Glad that I could bring back some memories for you, as we always lose the memories in some drawer in our minds. Never lost and only forgotten until some mention opens the drawer.
Great that you also had some experiences with chickens, even if it was a long time ago.
