Our wild, Red Collared Songbird couple!

034.JPG

This is the male sunbird inspecting a flower for some nectar!

We have no hummingbirds here in the Cape, but instead we have the small sunbirds and they are a treat to watch in action. Our garden is slowly being transformed into a bird haven and Spring will bring many delightful birds here again.
Come have a look at the sunbirds!

142.JPG

You wanted to see the female and here she is!
Much smaller than the male and she doesn't sing, but she doesn't have to, as she is just a tiny cutie!

025.JPG

One thing about this little guy, he loves to sing all day long.
Short bursts of tinkling sounds!

090.JPG

At times they also do some sky gazing for little flying insects!

100.JPG

Here we have the cute little lady also searching for a meal.
Their old nest was blown out by a gale force wind, but the good news is that they are building a new nest!

034.JPG

The Syringa tree singer between the yellow berries!

218.JPG

As night was approaching it was time for the birds to go home!

274.JPG

Finally, here's our little songbird with his Good Night song!

The red-collared sunbirds have only 3 enemies, cats, cuckoos and of course man.
Cats can catch and eat them, in fact a neighbor has seen one of the house cats here taking a sunbird. Cuckoos lay their eggs in the sunbirds nests and mankind catch and cage them for sales.
My blood boils when I see ads about sunbirds for sale.

I have even stopped to place posts about our dwarf chameleons, as people keep asking me where exactly they are. They sell for an expensive price and nobody is going to sell our wild animals.
The little sunbirds are safe here as long as we are around and we intend to keep it that way!

And That's All Folks!

You said the male would look much more beautiful than the female Sunbird, and you were very right - this bird looks great and the colors shine amazing metallic 😃

I hope your garden will be a secure haven for these and many other birds.

Thank you Hannes.

I was thinking about placing them as a couple to show the differences. We also have other mettalic colored sunbirds such as the famous Malachite and the Amathyst, I have posted both before, but this little guy in my post is our favorite, as he sings the best.

Thank you and yes, I am also going to secure the boundary walls with 2 meter high cane panels, so that only the front entrance will be open. The cats never come in at the front as they know that either I, or our little dog will be there.

Thank you also for visiting my post.

Blessings and thanks!

Hahaha, I think that I will post some cool flyers from the ocean's garden/beach tomorrow Hannes.
It's goin to take a while before the new plants flower, as I didn't take big cuttings.
But in time, yes, it will draw the birds.

Cheers and thanks!

Fine, I will wait for it 😊
As you said before, your garden will become a little paradise for you and for the little birds 😁

I am working in the other office today and also over night. So I don't know how much I will be able to go online, but I also want to make a post for tonight and hope I have enough time for all 😉

Ah! So at the other office again. I hope that they pay you a night shift allowance Hannes?
Hope that you can get it all done my friend.

Cheers and thanks!

Oh, they pay me even while I sleep 😁 lol

I had and still have a busy day, but I had time inbetween and could begin my #thriveonhive post and I have tagged you there if you don't mind ;)
But since I have been working on it besides my regular work I don't even know what I have written. I still have 2 hours left until I want to post it at 7 - plenty of time to look through and edit it.

Ah, yes, you goverment officials lead a luxurious life hahaha.

I will go and have a look and I don't mind you tagging me anywhere, as we are friends.
Okay, by now you would have scrutinized it and I hope that you have removed all of the swear words hahaha.

Cheers and thanks!

Yeah, I know ... if you could see me here you would feel sorry for me, because even if I can sleep for a few hours every cent is hard earned money - computers, monitors and other equipment which I cannot turn off are quite noisy and sleeping means no recovery 😥 but it is well paid and 2 or 3 times a month is not that bad.

Haha, I never use bad language on the blockchain and if I do I write in my Carinthian dialect which nobody will understand 😂

Well, the good news is that it is well paid and then a persond do not mind the inconveniences.
It sounds to me that the office is in a 24 hour operation cycle?
You are right, as 2-3 times a month is a dawdle!

Yeah I know, just teasing a bit lol.
But you must be careful with that Carinthian dialect, as there might be some ancient Greek speakers on the blockchain hahaha.

Makes two of us, as I also never swear online, not in any dialect lol.

Cheers and thanks!

That's true it's a 24/7 job which all of us can do if we want to earn some more 😉
Although I sit here I can do most of my regular work too and it's mostly easier to Hive ;)

Du mansch dasses eppa irgendawer vaschteht, des glabsch oby woll selba nit, my freind ausm Südn 😉

Hahaha, no swearing involved in the above, and I have to admit, that some might be able to understand it. Maybe I should mix a few Austrian dialects to make it harder 🤣

Ah, okay so it sounds like a monitoring station and that is easy money even if it is a bit tedious my friend. And it is great that you can then continue to do your own private work.

That sentence looks like Austrian mountain goat talk and all that I can make out is "The man", not even sure if this is correct 😄

Cheers and thanks!

You are right, monitoring, phoning and controlling people and such work - like a security service, but made by our own staff 😁

"So you think that anybody can understand that, you can't believe such yourself, my friend from the south 😉" LOL

Very clever to have an in-house monitoring and security system as companies here spend millions on external security companies.

Nah, I don't think that many can chew that bone my friend. That is certainly a very unusual dialect.
So where did you learn it?

Cheers and thanks!

Yes, they were talking about that too, because external security people wouldn't be as expensive as we are they say 😉

That's our dialect - I just wrote how we spea kat home where I grew up 😁 lol

Hahaha, they must be joking, as security companies here make millions guarding banks and other businesses.
I definitely think that they will be more expensive.
But in the meantime it's good that you guys can make some extra money!

A very interesting dialect my friend!

Cheers and thanks!

I think we cost more but the funny thing would be that people would say that the police needs a security service and cannot protect themselves 😉

It's just a dialect like we have many different 😁

Hahaha, I am laughing because our police here also employ security companies.
But then again so do the politicians as everyone wants body guards and 24 hour security at their free homes.
Security is a huge business in this country.

Amazing about the many different dialects, but I suppose that most people can understand English or German?
Else they would not be able to communivate across the dialects?

Cheers and thanks!

Cheers and thanks!

There are special police units for the few politicians here which need security.

Of course everyone speaks German here, but there are dialects which I would not understand, at least not everything 😉

Most of our special police units have been disbanded, because they investigated the corrution cases too vigorously. This opened the doors for the thieves ☹️

We are in the same boat here with all of our national languages, if everyone had to speak in their own language it will be the Tower of Babel 🤣

Cheers and thanks!

Yes, I think we are a lot different from your police and government.

Having so many languages as you have must be quite complicated sometimes.

Your country sounds as it should be Hannes.
Law and order is absolutely neccessary if a country wants to be stable.
Here the police have become hated and rampaging mobs backed by sinister forces sow havoc every day. 3 big buses have been destroyed by fire this week thus far.

Very complicated with the languages here my friend.

I now have to say a hearty Good Night to you here Hannes 🙂
The orders for the feeding project is waiting for me and I have to sort them out before the morning.

Hope that you guys will have a restful sleep my friend!

At least our country is not as corrupt as many other countries, I think, and we don't have such rage and hate over here.

Good morning Zac, I hope you have found some hours of good sleep too 😊

Hi Hannes,

I greeted you in a previous reply already.

Yeah, corruption can certainly destroy any country and we have a very sad history about greed. I have my fears that it will never change as the temptations are just too many. 😞

Cheers and thanks!

Greed is the disease which can't be cured I think. Even if the next politicians might be correct - when they smell the power and the money they will change. People will never get enough, although they have everything and enough money for 5 lifes they will want more.

So true my friend, I resteemed a post by an African friend that will give you a better idea of what's going on here.

Glad that you saw the truth about our situation Hannes.
And yes, you can count your blessings for living in a stable and lawful, first world country.
At this pace, the African continent will always stay in the dark ages.

It is such a lovely country with great people, but anchored on the shifting sands of corruption.

Cheers and thanks.

As I said before - greed is the disease. Why can't people just have enough when they have more they can ever spend anyway?

The problem here is that people are all intent on creating dynasties, as they have very large families Hannes.
But of course, stolen money will never last, so nobody are really gaining anything.

The old government was changed 26 years ago and the new government came in with the idea that it was their time to "eat".
They continue to this day to "eat" to the detriment of the country my friend.
Many became millionairs overnight.
Just a simple explanation of the trurth.

Simple explanation, that's right, but really not understandable how such could work for so many years.

Thank you for the kind words milady!

A lesson for us in life after our our own storms.
I didn't have the heart to post the photo of the destroyed nest as the dead little baby got stuck at the entrance.

But, yes they are building again and their little lives go on.
So happy for them.

Blessings and thank you for the tip!
