My Pigeon Adventures

Young pigeon is upset for getting a bath (it's filthy out there!) and is giving me the silent/shut-eye treatment, as you can see, below:

It took around a half an hour - after listening to soothing bird music & reluctantly accepting some snacks - for it to open its eyes, occasionally, but still inconsolable and quite cross with me.

Once the black clouds passed as well as thunderstorm (we live in sub-tropical Florida, after all), I took the l'il fellow out for a conciliatory walk :)

This pigeon is a young male, by the way; I, occasionally, call him Tommy. His sister, also raised on our balcony, is pretty independent (was that way since day 2). Unlike, my boy, she stopped coming back once she learned to fly.

Tommy is goofy, affectionate and a bit of a misfit... Three qualities, I admit, that I can relate to 😉

Mercifully, this guy is too sweet to bite, but I've certainly been bitten and wing-slapped by other feathered friends in the past!

I suspect that with birds, just like people, how they're treated as youngsters determines their capacity to give/receive love... sigh

Here's the boy, another day, in a better, contemplative mood (one- footed perch is, typically, a sign of relaxation.)

What a beautiful friendship you two have, I don't know many people who are friends with a bird, this is really wonderful.

Life is truly mysterious, @talentclub, and it's remarkable how connected all living creatures are. I was not surprised to learn of Nikola Tesla's unique bond with a pigeon; he even went so far as to say:

I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.
