Citrus Tree Work!

Greetings, everyone! Look at this citrus tree! It was grown from a cutting from my original tree, which I think is a tangerine tree (there's no knowing until it fruits). The cutting was placed directly in soil in a pot where actually some turmeric and potatoes were growing (strange combo, right?). The soil for those plants must always be moist so it really helped the cutting grow. I think it is about a year old now. I pruned it when I moved it to its own container and now I'm pruning it again but only the largest leaves. This will encourage smaller leaves to sprout.
Around the time the pandemic was just starting, I put some new cuttings from the original tree, which is 5 years old now, in water. Half of them failed but 2 have some good yellow roots going.

The larger of the two cuttings went into the larger pot. I want to see how well the small one does in the tiny pot. I used a special slightly sandy cactus, palm, and citrus soil. I got good results from it on my holiday cactus. That's also because the potting soil is enriched with miracle-grow. So these little saplings should see a small explosion of growth soon.

They each have only a single leaf, which is ideal for cuttings because they lose less water that way. I put them on a sith facing window where they can get lots of morning and afternoon sun. What I also like about the soil is that it's easy to tell when it's dry because it turns light brown opposed to black. The plants will do well here, as long as I remember to water them.

Pretty soon I'll have to bring the "mother" inside due to the cold. She stays in the living room in front of a west facing window. There, her leaves turn dark green to absorb a much light as possible. That's why when I suddenly moved it outside the leaves got sunburned (this happened to several of my plants) before they adjusted and turned a lighter green.
When I bring it in, it will also be time for a pruning but that won't be for at least another month or so.

Until then, have a fantastic day!
