Gifts for Gifr Exchange for Christmas (ENG/SPA)
Hello, people of the internet. Today I want to do a simple post about a tradition (which I must admit I'm not sure if it's only Venezuelan or if it's also done in other countries) it's about the exchange of gifts.
Hola, gente de Internet. Hoy quiero hacer un post sencillo sobre una tradición (que debo admitir que no estoy segura si es solo venezolana o también se hace en otros países) se trata del intercambio de regalos
Usually (I will talk about Venezuela because it is my country) here it is customary to make a gift exchange, the process is as follows: The names of the participants are written on a piece of paper, they are cut out and crumpled, then the pieces are put inside a bag and all the participants must take a piece of paper blindly, and then open it secretly to see who corresponds to them. Then a gift has to be bought for the person (usually a price is set for the value of the gift, so everyone will have a gift of the same value) and then at 12.00 a.m. on December 25th, the gifts are handed out (we start with the eldest in the family) and the eldest says whose turn it is and gives the gift (in our case we all unwrap the gift in front of everyone) and then this person says to whom the gift is to be given and so forth.
Usualmente (hablaré de Venezuela porque es mi pais) aquí se acostumbra a hacer un intercambio de regalo, el proceso es el siguiente: Se escribe los nombres de los participantes en un papel, se recortan y se arrugan, luego se meten dentro de una bolsa y todos los participantes deben tomar un papel a ciegas, y luego abrirlo secretamente para ver quien le corresponde. Después hay que comprarle un regalo a la persona (por lo general se establece un precio para el valor del obsequio, así todos tendrán un regalo del mismo valor) y luego a las 12.00 de la madrugada del 25 de diciembre, se entregan los regalos (nosotros empezamos por el mayor de la familia) este dice a quien le corresponde y le entrega el regalo (en el caso de nosotros todos destapamos el obsequio frente a todos) y luego esta persona dice a quien le tocó hacerle el regalo y así sucesivamente.
For this occasion I went with my mum to buy the gifts for the gift exchange, we have to give presents to one of our aunts and her daughter respectively, so as good Venezuelan women, we decided to make cosmetic gifts 😏🤣.
Para esta ocasión fui con mi mamá a comprar los regalos para el intercambio de regalos, a mi hermana y a mi nos tocaron una tía y su hija respectivamente, así que como buenas mujeres venezolanas, decidimos hacer regalos cosméticos. 😏🤣
There were so many options that I had a hard time deciding what to buy. There were face and body creams, nail polishes, sunscreens, rose water, splashes and many other things.
Habían muchísimas opciones así que me costó bastante decidirme que cosas comprar. Habían cremas faciales y corporales, esmaltes de uñas, protectores solares, agua de rosas, splash y muchas cosas más.
In the end I decided on a travelling hair straightener, a couple of splashes, a bottle of rose water and a sunscreen.
Al final me decidí por una plancha de cabello viajera, un par de splash, un frasco de agua de rosas y un protector solar.
I then wrapped them in wrapping paper so that they were ready for delivery.
Posteriormente los envolví con papel de regalo para que estuvieran listos para ser entregados
When we arrived at the party, we put our presents together with the rest of the family and I found out that my cousin (who I was to give the gift) was on duty at the hospital that day (she is a doctor) so I had to make a symbolic delivery with her mum 🤣🤣.
Cuando llegamos a la fiesta, pusimos nuestros regalos junto con los del resto de la familia y me enteré de que mi prima (a quién me correspondía regalarle) estaba de guardia en el hospital ese día (es médico) por tanto tuve que hacer una entrega simbólica con su mamá 🤣🤣
It was very funny because all my family members are very funny, so the comments they made made made us laugh a lot 🤣🤣.
Fue muy divertido porque todos los miembros de mi familia son muy graciosos y divertidos, así que los comentarios que hacían nos hacían reír mucho 🤣🤣
And after the delivery of all the gifts, we took the typical family photo of every year.
Y después de la entrega de todos los regalos, nos hicimos la típica foto familiar de cada año.
I really love these moments with my family, they are the occasions when we can literally see each other (at least those of us who are still in Venezuela) so I am very happy.
La verdad amo estos momentos con mi familia, son las ocasiones en que literalmente podemos vernos todos (al menos los que seguimos dentro de Venezuela) así que me alegra mucho
