¡Huele a Navidad! Se están acercando los días más lindos del año. Días de celebración, de unión, de regalos, de compartir, de música alegre, de alegría, algarabía y donde el sentimiento universal es el mismo: armonía, paz y amor.
Esta mañana finalmente puse mi arbolito de Navidad y le di la sorpresa a mi hijo cuando llegó del liceo, ver que en su hogar ya la Navidad había llegado.
It smells like Christmas! The most beautiful days of the year are approaching. Days of celebration, of union, of gifts, of sharing, of joyful music, of happiness, of merriment and where the universal feeling is the same: harmony, peace and love.
This morning I finally put up my Christmas tree and surprised my son when he came home from school to see that Christmas had arrived in his home.
Por mi parte, tengo infinidad de motivos para celebrar estas Navidades. Las anteriores, desde la muerte de mi mamá, la unión familiar se fracturó un poco. Un hermano se mudó a México con su esposa, el otro a Margarita y las dos hermanas mujeres que quedamos aquí, nos reunimos y solemos hacer una pijamada. Hacemos una comida sencilla, un buen vino y noche de películas. Solo ella, mi hijo y yo. Son reuniones sencillas, pero llenas de buena vibra, paz y tranquilidad. Y después de las ocho de la noche, hacemos video llamada con quienes no ellos y de alguna manera, mantenemos esa unión.
As for me, I have plenty of reasons to celebrate this Christmas. The previous ones, since the death of my mother, the family union was a little fractured. One brother moved to Mexico with his wife, the other to Margarita and the two female sisters that are left here, we get together and have a sleepover. We have a simple meal, good wine and movie night. Just her, my son and me. They are simple gatherings, but full of good vibes, peace and quiet. And after eight o'clock at night, we do video calls with those who are not them and somehow, we keep that togetherness.
Y aunque las reuniones de nosotros tres para celebrar la Navidad, son sencillas, nunca puede faltar una bonita mesa, una linda decoración. Siempre hemos amado la Navidad, desde niños, nuestros padres nos inculcaron ese amor por estas fechas. La emoción de irse a dormir antes de medianoche o de lo contrario, el Niño Jesús no nos dejaría nuestros regalos al pie de la cama o debajo del árbol.
Siempre hemos sido muy unidos, doy gracias a Dios porque tengo una familia preciosa, tuve unos padres maravillosos, amorosos y divertidos que nos dejaron un hermoso legado de amor, solidaridad y unión.
Este año, si Dios quiere y permite, uno de mis hermanos regresará a Caracas a vivir y eso sucederá antes de Navidad, por lo que este año estaremos casi todos juntos. Mi hermana con dos de sus hijos, que suelen pasar las Navidades con su papá y la hija mayor vive en Barcelona, España y a través de la tecnología, haremos contacto con ella y con el mayor de mis hermanos, que lo pasará en México con su esposa, como lo ha hecho durante estos últimos seis años.
And although the gatherings of the three of us to celebrate Christmas are simple, you can never miss a nice table, a nice decoration. We have always loved Christmas, since we were children, our parents instilled in us that love for these dates. The excitement of going to bed before midnight or else Baby Jesus would not leave us our gifts at the foot of the bed or under the tree.
We have always been very close, I thank God because I have a beautiful family, I had wonderful, loving and fun parents who left us a beautiful legacy of love, solidarity and union.
This year, God willing and permitting, one of my brothers will return to Caracas to live and that will happen before Christmas, so this year we will be almost all together. My sister with two of her children, who usually spend Christmas with their dad and the eldest daughter lives in Barcelona, Spain and through technology, we will make contact with her and with the eldest of my brothers, who will spend it in Mexico with his wife, as he has done during these last six years.
Después de este largo preámbulo (lo siento por esto, pero cuando comienzo a escribir, los pensamientos cobran vida propia y fluyen solos), quiero responder dos de las preguntas sugeridas en el post de la iniciativa.
1️⃣¿Extrañas algo de las navidades pasadas?
Uuuff...! Extraño en primer lugar, a mis padres. Recuerdo que cada diciembre, poníamos una gran mesa en la terraza de la casa, con todos los ingredientes para hacer las hallacas (plato navideño típico venezolano) y nos sentábamos alrededor todos los miembros de la familia para colaboraren la preparación de la misma, acompañados de gaitas, ponche crema (ponche de huevo), risas, bromas y mucha diversión.
Éramos muchos, porque estaban mis padres, mis hermanos (tengo tres), con sus respectivas familias y yo con mi novio. Nunca faltaban algunos amigos que se querían sumar a estos momentos. Estos recuerdos me hacen un nudo en la garganta porque era una época muy feliz e ingenuamente pensamos que sería eterna, que nunca nos faltaría esos dos seres hermosos que construyeron con amor nuestra familia.
After this long preamble (sorry for this, but when I start writing, thoughts take on a life of their own and flow on their own), I want to answer two of the questions suggested in the initiative post.
1️⃣Do you miss anything from last Christmas?
Uuuff...! I miss first of all, my parents. I remember that every December, we would set a big table on the terrace of the house, with all the ingredients to make hallacas (typical Venezuelan Christmas dish) and we would sit around it all the members of the family to collaborate in the preparation of it, accompanied by bagpipes, ponche crema (eggnog), laughter, jokes and lots of fun.
We were many, because there were my parents, my siblings (I have three), with their respective families and me with my boyfriend. There were always some friends who wanted to join us in these moments. These memories give me a lump in my throat because it was a very happy time and we naively thought that it would last forever, that we would never miss those two beautiful people who built our family with love.
2️⃣ ¿Qué deseas para esta navidad y para las navidades futuras?
En primer lugar deseo que nunca nos falte la abundancia en alimentos, que afortunadamente siempre hemos tenido la bendición de disfrutar.
Deseo que todos los miembros de mi familia podamos celebrar estas fechas juntos, aunque vivamos en distintas partes del mundo. Que haya abundancia en todo sentido y que los que no están cerca, tengan la capacidad económica para viajar y reunirnos al menos estas fechas, como antes, cuando nuestros padres estaba vivos.
Deseo que todos sigan estando sanos, doy gracias a Dios, a la vida y al universo porque todos estamos sanos y seguimos estando unidos a pesar de la distancia. Pero con una fe inquebrantable de que volveremos a estar todos juntos.
2️⃣ What do you wish for this Christmas and for future Christmases?
First of all I wish that we never lack the abundance of food, which fortunately we have always been blessed to enjoy.
I wish that all the members of my family can celebrate Christmas together, even though we live in different parts of the world. May there be abundance in every way and may those who are not close to us have the economic capacity to travel and get together at least on these dates, as before, when our parents were alive.
I wish everyone to continue to be healthy, I thank God, life and the universe because we are all healthy and we continue to be united despite the distance. But with an unshakable faith that we will all be together again.
From my heart to yours, I wish you that all your dreams come true, that you never lack food on your table. I wish you all good health and lots of love.
And if in your life there is also a loved one missing because they have gone to heaven, thank life for the opportunity it gave you to know them, to share with that special person and do not look at that chair that is already empty, because now there are other chairs filled with special people for you.

Cuando llega la Navidad es inevitable extrañar aquellos que elevaron su vuelo al cielo infinito, otros que fueron tras la esperanza de una mejor vida en otros países, cenas familiares en dónde había que buscar más sillas porque no cabíamos, Jajaja. El caso es que la Navidad es familia y hay que hacer lo posible por mantener las tradiciones vivas, para que nuestros niños crezcan con el amor con el que crecimos nosotros, sigamos haciendo magia. Que post tan emotivo amiga @purrix, más que identificada contigo, por lo pronto pidamos salud, es lo más importante... Saludos.

Cuando hay amor, no importa la distancia y ahora con la tecnología se hace más fácil. Con mi pareja hacemos también una selección de películas y comida rica, así que entiendo cuando dices que es sencillo pero se mantienen las tradiciones en la comida, regalos, compartir, mensajes. La verdad es la mejor época del año y se como te sientes al respecto de familiares que ya no están con nosotros bien sea porque murieron o porque se mudaron lejos, creo que la mayoría de nosotros pasamos por lo mismo, me sentí bastante identificada con tu post, muy bonito
