Do Not Swear
Matthew 5:34-37; But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Swearing is one of the common ways people try to acquit themselves of an accusation or to prove to people that they are supposedly genuine or would stick to a promise or an action to be undertaken. But the bible is telling something, and today what we are learning is not to swear irrespective of the instance or situation we may find ourself in.
Swearing is not the christian way and if one wishes to win the trust of others or get othes to believe that they may be innocent in a situation all that is required is to tell the truth and the good Lord will surely let the truth prevail.
So brethren, do not swear, do not be pushed into doing an act against God, instead just be truthful, let your yes be yes and no be no and you shall surely prevail in all instances. Have a blessed week and thanks for reading.
