Do This and You Shall Live
Luke 10:25 – 28, On an occasion one well vexed in the law stoop up to test Jesus. “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus answered, “What does the law say?”, “How do you read it?” he answered saying, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all thy might and will all thy mind, Love your neighbor as yourself”. Jesus replied, “You have answered right”, “Do this and you will live”.
There has always been rules and guidelines to look up to for good behavior such that one would have access to the after life, eternal life etc. Sometimes they are a lot and other times not so much. As Christians we have a lot to look up to and sometimes the knowledge itself may be overwhelming.
And thus is why the Christ came, not to abolish the law though rather to strengthen and in doing so made things much simpler and easier for us to follow and obey so we could enter into the Kingdom of the heavenly.
And so it is as simple as it gets, the Christian life should focus on loving the Lord our God and our neighbor and truly by doing this we could obey all the 10 commandments and any other laws that we may be looking up to as a good christian.
And that is because when we love we do not sin, not against our God or our neighbor. And so i end this by reiterating what verse initially spelt out. Love the Lord your God and Love your neighbor as yourself.
