THE NAME OF JESUS

PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I remember when we were young, when we see things that scare us, we run to our parents or scream their names, to come and save us or kill whatever is making us scared. Most times, it might be people who we are afraid that want to cause harm to us, we begin to scream our parents' names to come and save us from the hands of that person.

Even though, most times, our parents are aware of what is making us scared and they know that such things won't harm us or the person won't harm us, they will always come running to us when they hear our scream. They would always run out from where they are to come to soothe us and calm us down in such times.

Most times we call their names out of instincts or impulse because we are used to calling their names believing that whatever or whoever it is will run away once they hear us scream our parent's names.

PROVERBS 18:10

The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

So is the name of Jesus Christ, the name that is above every other name, the name that is full of power and grace, the name that demons tremble once they hear you mention the name. The name of Jesus Christ scares away evil from us, the name destroys every yoke and gives us liberation and freedom.

The name of Jesus is stronger than our parent's name and if we can call our parent's names even though they are human like us and still believe that whatever is coming or whoever is coming to harm us will run away once they hear us scream their names, how much more the name of Jesus.

As Christians and sons of the father, we have the same authority to mention the name of Jesus just like we had the same authority to mention our parent's name and Jesus expects us to call on Him when we are faced with challenges. The name of Jesus was given to us to bring peace into our hearts in a storming situation.

The name of Jesus is the only name we can call and be sure of safety. This isn't the time to call on our parents' names because they are human like us ad may likely fail us because they've got no strength to protect themselves, how much more us. It is the time to call upon the name of Jesus which we are sure of safety.
