"A BRAVE MAN RISKS HIS LIFE NOT HIS CONSCIENCE"(MARTIN LUTHER KING)

What inspires your decisions in life? This question was asked Late Martin Luther King (Jnr.) and he replied with a tenable opinion. "one must take a stand, not on how safe nor how popular, but how right"

He further explained, "Cowardice asks: Is it safe? Vanity asks: is it popular? But conscience asks: Is it right? Our conscience should be our captain. If we take orders from our conscience, the world would be a better habitat for all of us.

Choosing to do good is commendable. However, our choices should not only be inspired by the consequences of doing otherwise, but the satisfaction of our conscience.

Man's conscience connects him with the will of the living and wise creator God, the Father. This is the reason our conscience berates us when we go contrary to HIS values and despise that still small voice. As a matter of fact, our regrets in life can be traced to ignoring the vocalizations of our conscience.

We therefore need to be sternly warned. If we cultivate the habit of ignoring and suppressing the voice of our conscience, we are bound to metamorphose from human beings to human beasts. It is abvious that most of the heinous crimes we witness in our world today are committed by such human beasts.

It will do much good if we consistently evaluate our lifestyles, to verify if indeed we are satisfying our conscience. This evaluation will bring to light the state of our conscience. For some, their conscience is alive and healthy but for others their conscience is in a terminal state or dead.

For the latter, there is a remedy. It begins with realization, followed by a decision and then supplication to the one who holds the monopoly of all grace-God. From Him you will receive grace to glide on the waves of your conscience.
