“Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us” (Genesis 34:23 KJV)

The event that took place between the children of Jacob and Shechem, the son of Hamor was a sort of tribal conflict that caused Jacob to lament.
Jacob was living among the Canaanites and the Perizzites in the Hivites’ community, then the devil found a way of causing Jacob’s expulsion from the land.

No one can tell the experiences the man of God had passed through during his life journey. God had saved Jacob from being crushed by his uncle being killed by his brother. Here is another conflict facing Jacob. He lamented to Simeon and Levi, saying, “Ye have troubled me to stink among the inhabitants of the land”. (Genesis 34:30).

Though the condition of circumcision was a deceit, yet the plot to kill all males of the land was Simeon and Levi’s focus; until they did that, their heart was not settled. When the heart determines a deal, the deeds are easily carried out.
Yes, it was an abomination for the uncircumcised Hivites to defile the circumcised peculiar daughter of God. Though they accepted the condition of circumcision, they did so in order to claim Israelite’s substance which failed (Genesis 34:23).

Ask the Lord to be merciful unto you, to bless you and your family, to cause His face to shine upon you and to let thy way be known upon the earth and thy saving health among all nations, Amen.
