HOW TO AVOID JUDGING PEOPLE

Hello!

Lately I have been talking a lot on judgment. This is the previous part signs you are being judgmental and this the concluding part now. Most times we judge people unknowingly and we feel bad about it. Here are ways to avoid judging people so you don’t have to regret it later.

KNOW YOUR HEART’S ATTITUDE

If peradventure you have a child or a friend going the wrong way, the least we can do is to speak up. But then our heart’s attitude will determine whether they shut down or listen to us. While a loving heart may say nice words like, “The outcome of this decision would be bad. I love you and I don’t think you should do this.” A judgmental heart would say, “You are never wise in decision making. You will fail as usual and I will be here to say ‘I told you so.'”

KNOW THE RIGHT PLACE AND TIME

Knowing when, where and how we talk about sensitive things is very important. Trying to correct someone in public always makes the person defensive. We can’t say the same for private discussion. Also remember that when you gossip someone in public it’s likely judgment because a person can’t be corrected if they can’t even hear what you’re saying.

KNOW YOUR TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON

Pending on how long or strong your relationship is with a person, you can actually correct them without them feeling judged. You cannot compare a 25year old relationship to that of a new friend.

CONCLUSION

Consider the feelings of others by being careful with your words in order not to hurt one another but never hold back the truth in love.
Most times silence is a virtue and when you keep quiet for a short while you might later find that your words were not necessary at that moment.
