Still no green light for Hyundai 2022 World Rally Car

Hi, friends!

M-Sport Ford and Toyota are expected to start with testing of the new generation of the World Rally Cars, or WRC1 cars which is the top category in rallying but there is no news about Hyundai doing the same.

The problem is that headquarters from Korea still didn't give the green light for the new project and from what I heard there will be a three year cycle and not five like it was before.

World Rally Cars class exist from 1997 when it was introduced and there were three generations of the cars before new hybrid system which will be introduced next season.

First it was two liters turbo class with four drive wheel cars from 1997 until 2010. In 2011 there were 1.6 turbo class introduced also with four wheel drive and that lasted until 2016.

In 2017 these beasts of WRC cars, also with 1.6 turbo engines and four wheel drive but with bigger restrictor on turbo which produced around 400bhp (maybe even more).

So in 2022 there will be hybrid systems and no one could say how will that function because rally cars are often in the ditch and spectators help them to go out of it. What if that battery hurt someone in the process?!

Only future will say what is the best. But we must go in the way world dictate. And that's it.
