Adulthood: The Freedom I Wanted, The Responsibility I Got
One of the biggest burdens of adulthood for me is responsibility. It can be overwhelming sometimes to see that a lot of people are looking up to me; they depend on me for many things that I can't just escape. That's adulthood for you. I wanted it, but now I am running away, looking for a place to at least breathe fresh air for 24 hours without anyone demanding my attention.

Growing up, I admired adults around me and how no one ordered them around, how they dressed cute, went to their office, and commanded people to do a thing or two for them. I admired married couples and their children, their cuteness and togetherness. I only saw the surface but never saw the hard work behind the surface I saw.
If I should tell myself the truth, then it is that I wished some time ago to return to the teenage stage and live some kind of life. The freedom I was anticipating for when I turned adult is almost meaningless ... lol.
Yes, adults have certain freedom and the power to make certain decisions; they can work and earn and live a kind of lifestyle they can afford. This morning, my son asked that I buy chocolate for him, and I told him no, that would be whenever I get money. He insisted that I have money, and I insisted that I don't have the plan of spending the money on chocolate. This boy opened his mouth and said, "I wish I were an adult now; I would make money and buy whatever I want." I will buy sugar and lick all of it without Mummy shouting at me. I'll buy Milo and lick all of them. He kept counting many things, and I didn't stop laughing at him.
It's a common mindset of many children those days until you finally become an adult for real and responsibilities will slap your face blue and black; by then you won't remember anything, lol.
It has been established that adulthood comes with a variety of challenges, but the real question is how do I cope?
Personally, I cope by taking things one step at a time, not worrying too much in advance but focusing on today and thinking about tomorrow when it comes. I also worked on my faith in God, trusting him always to come through for me. Another coping mechanism I adopted is appreciating my little win and moving on.
Overall I am learning to take it one step at a time, pray in my good age's difficult moments, appreciate the good ones, and keep moving.
I hear you on that
We all wished to grow up fast, only to realize how heavy responsibility actually is. Kids really think being an adult is just unlimited money and sweets!
