Beneath the Bed Series: Echoes of Transformation

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Ah, motivation. The age-old feeling where one's energy is so high and then they feel unstoppable Everyone has felt motivated at least a billion times in their life. It's an everyday feeling, even though it may be subtle sometimes. And, after lacking it for a long time this week to write about it, I finally caught some of it to respond to the prompt. The catch this time, however, is that I am trying something different.

Rather than writing, like I have been doing for as long as ever on here, I spontaneously decided to talk, literally, as that felt like it would be easier to do in that moment instead of typing it out. Not video, actually—as I am shyly hiding under my bed to show my face—but just audio with something a little extra in the background—my guitar.

In the video above, or audio, I share my story about a time when I needed to make a big shift in my life. I had some form of motivation, but considering that motivation itself is overrated, I had to do more than just "feel motivated." And there you have it—another story of my life.

It's first patiently watching a video of this length on Hive, I was hooked to the message and cool instrument playing in the background.

There is more to life than just being motivated and I agree with you that yes, it is overrated.

Your story is kind of touching, Mom's effect on our lives can be very inspiring. They go through a lot for us and seeing them disappoint many times fuels me to get the best out of life. I am glad you found your way back into your academics and succeeded at it.

Life happens and the distraction you had in 100 better happen than when you are mid-way through university. Glad you are doing very well, and I wish you more success in life.

Keep making Mama proud.

In my book, mothers are superheroes. For many of us, they have impacted us in so many ways that are now beneficial to us now that we are much older. Seeing them disappointed in us can be devastating, and so I try to make mine proud of me as often as I can. She deserves a lot more than I can offer.

I am really glad to know that you really like this style I came up with. It was exciting to try out. I guess I will be doing more of it in the coming days.

Thank you for showing up, man.

First off, I think you should do this every time because your voice is incredibly soothing. In fact, make I no see your writing again. This is the way.🥴

The instrumental in the background just gave it the whole touching vibe. I know your Mom is such a huge inspiration to you and one of your driving forces to be better. I feel I also understand you a lot better now, Mr. Girl Chaser.😏

And you're doing so wonderfully in your life, I just know that she's extremely proud of you. Lots of !luv🌺

I surely can't put writing aside, as you like that too, but I really would consider doing this a lot more. It felt refreshing. And I guess I'll use my guitar more now.

Thank you for your luv, Fangy. I'll keep trying to make my people proud.

Hehehe, Jay, you got me hooked to the end of your video especially that your soft voice 🙃🙂 I love how you were talking and playing on your guitar, it makes it more enjoyable to listen to.

I love your story and how perseverance and persistence motivated you in your secondary school. No child who isn't doing well would make his or her parents especially mothers proud, you did disappointed your mom but you did your best later on.
Perhaps you could have made first class if not for the girl you were chasing then, but we keep learning lessons from experiences like this.

Motivation is really overrated and we would agree that environment, people, things we do are factors contributing to motivation in every individual's life. Thanks for sharing.

My Princess...🙂💯

I think there are sometimes the need for something to happen—something to make us uncomfortable—to make us realise that we are not where we should be and must do something about it to be better. That's how things began to change for me with the whole disappointment and being sober.

I really would like to keep putting out content in this manner. It's different and somewhat refreshing. Let's see how I would be able to pull that off when I return to Rivers. I'll leave on Monday, by the way.

I always appreciate your presence, Princess. So thank you for coming around.

Wow wow wow!
Jay, I'm speechless to what I just listened to. You do have a lot of ways to be creative with videos, this is lovely to listen to 😊

Another story of your life indeed, I wouldn't have thought you went through all that. Glad you've come this far regardless.

Sometimes we need more than motivation to do better, you've proven that and learnt your lessons. Mum is proud of you and you have to keep that up 💯

What an honour it is to render our Merit speechless. 😄🫠

I just keep on experimenting, searching whatever I kind kind, and that's how this video happened. 😀 I'm glad that you appreciate it.

And, yeah, I'm also glad that I have managed to come this far.

Thank you always, Mer Mer.

Just somehow related to my primary and secondary days, I had no choice than to go but wasn't really happy about some things.

Well it's good to know that you now make your mum proud, which is very important. Wish you more success man. ✌️

I really loves this, the voice, the soothing song in the background, it made a lot of sense. I get that feeling of not wanting your parents to be disappointed in you it's enough kick to make you thrive to be better.

Yeah, life happens and distractions come along😁, we understand.

This concept is actually nice. You got your viewers entertained with your guitar 🎸 while they listen to your motivation story

I must commend your mum's effort...I like the approach she used on you..it was quite effective..those words sank in your brain and thus a great shift in your mind. However, your determination and persistence contributed to the results we are seeing today. Who knows, if not for that girl you chased in Ur 100 level, you would have came out with 1st class Haha 😂....

Pretty long video but interesting 😍

It was effective, yeah, but I actually didn't like it much at that time. The words sure sank into my brain. 😄

Of course, I'm not blaming the girl for my inadequacy, but yeah, I may have done much better if I had set my priorities right.

Pretty long video, yes. I'm super glad you still liked it.

Awwww, please keep doing this, your voice ehnn🥰😍, I stuck to the end and wanted to hear more.

Good thing you felt motivated and you persevered.

This story you shared could also motivate someone out there.

Keep making your momma proud and I look forward to your next video😄😄.

For the fact that I listen to this to the end I deserve a chilled chi-exotic drink and fried pepper chicken, am not usually this patient to listen to anything more than 3 minutes.

God bless your mom abundantly and continue to make her proud.

Oh! This is so nice. I understand wholly what you mean.

Although this is how I view motivation: it is not a thick strong rope that pulls you up to your destination but a strand let down in bits that takes you as far as that strand of zeal/motivation can take you, then another strand is let down over and again as you seek or sort after them till You get there.

It's lovely that your drive was not to disappoint your mum again and you've done her proud💕

Indeed, motivation can be viewed in that way. It takes a series of motivation to get to where you want to be. Brilliant analogy, and I agree with it.

Thank you for coming around!

You know why I don't fancy motivational talks by people? It's because it's easy to say and maybe it worked for the person that did it but when you try to follow the steps, you'd find out that there's really a lot attached to it.
Those factors that made it possible for the person may not be there for another person.

To stay motivated needs a whole lot of work.

This audio-video pattern you used is so enticing. Maybe those of us that are scared of camera should adopt this to kill the fright before showing up the face. Lol😅

Bullseye! I agree that there is often too much hype around speeches. It can get one started, but it's never enough to get one to their destination. It takes a lot more than just that.

It's been quite a while, man. Good to see you around.

The idea that I didn't want to show my face is exactly why i used this style. And I think I'll stick with it from now. 😄

It's the happiness behind the "I just wanted you to know that it's me playing my guitar" for me😅. I loved the soothing background sound. Helped to improve my attention span.

I like how you capitalized on the threats and disappointments and decided to be better. People take years before undergoing such reformation. I'm glad you did at quite and early age. Your presentation was amazing ✨

I mean, I am always happy when I play my guitar, I just thought to share that. 😄

And, yeah, I don't think I can afford to spend years to make a change. Might as well accelerate it and be better. Glad you enjoyed this post, wongi. How's the weather today?
