WHO: monkeypox international health emergency. The carousel starts again
The World Health Organization has declared monkeypox a health emergency of international concern. The decision was communicated by the WHO director, Tedros Ghebreyesus at a summit held in Geneva on 23 July 2022.

A handful of days earlier, the WHO scientific committee had met to discuss the developments in monkeypox. The international emergency was put to a vote: nine members expressed an opinion against, while six were in favor.
The Ethiopian director of WHO overturned the outcome of the vote, explaining that there would be too little information regarding the nature of the virus and its transmission methods. Also on July 23, two cases of monkeypox involving children were made official in the United States. An episode cited by Tedros in support of his decision to approve the maximum state of alert provided by the WHO. The public health emergency of international concern is designed to trigger cooperation on a global scale, with the consequent release of funding, vaccines and treatments.

To date, 16,000 cases of monkeypox have been recorded in over 75 countries, with five deaths occurring in Africa. According to sources consulted by the British news agency Reuters, Tedros has decided to declare the maximum alert level for the concern of an increase in cases, and for the low supply of vaccines and treatments for the disease.
The position of the World Health Summit has raised quite a few controversies, not only for the very high level of alarm decreed, but above all for the fact that Ghebreyesus has ignored the decision of the experts. According to what was observed by the deputy director of the US CDC, Jennifer McQuiston, 99% of the 2,891 confirmed cases in the US involve homosexual men, but there have also been a handful of cases among women and transgenders.
JYNNEOS and ACAM2000 are currently the two vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) against monkeypox. The first was approved in 2019, the second in 2007. Despite being available in limited numbers, the US expects an increase in supplies in the coming weeks. On the official website of the CDC we read that there are currently no data on the efficacy of these vaccines for the current epidemic.

It was only a matter of time. Hopefully the global population has enough sense to say no to becoming prisoners in their own houses after the last debacle.
Yep, also the vaccine circus on monkeypox is starting again but i don't think people gonna run for the jab now
It will be interesting to me to see if there are any populations in the world that will ever allow their governments so much power to dictate their lives ever again in the future. I'd like to believe that they wouldn't and it will be fun to see how many people get voted out because of what they have already done.
