Ukraine war to speed shift to green energy, IEA says - a step towards the right direction

Greetings to my esteemed friends on the InformationWar platform and the entire hive blockchain. It's another day and time to share news happening around the world and it's implications on man and it's environment. It's your friend @faquan, saying hello from this part of the world.

Since the beginning of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine in February 24, the world economy have dwindled drastically. One of the talking point of the war is the hike in fossil fuel prices, which have led to high inflation rates across the world.

For those that aren't aware of this fact, should know that Russia is one of the major distributor of natural gas and nitrogen used to produce fertilizer. Natural gas on its own is capable of crumbling so many nation's economy, while the hike in nitrogen can lead to hike or inflation of household and industrial materials.

When the Russian government refused to obey the instructions of the UN and European Union to withdraw from Ukraine economic sanctions with some stringent conditionaltities was placed against Russia.

The Russian government immediately retaliated by refusing to sell her fossil fuel to members of the European Union and other supporters of Ukraine. This on its own is very devastating and led to the hike in price of goods in the market.

It's crystal clear that when people or group of people are in tight corner, they tend to think towards a solution to solve that problem. Nations like the US and some other European countries (most especially Germany) thought of looking for alternative source(s) of acquiring natural gas and fossil fuel.

Today the International Energy Agency (IEA) have announced plans to move for greener energy source to replace the fossil fuels supplied by the Russians. This to me is a step towards the right direction.

“Energy markets and policies have changed as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, not just for the time being, but for decades to come,” said Fatih Birol, executive director of the agency, which released its annual World Energy Outlook report.source

Like I've said earlier, government's policies towards energy have changed and this time is for the better. The energy market have equally changed clouded by a constant hike in price. Everyone knows the importance of energy to nation's economy and government will like to see their economy grow and not crippled by lack of energy supply due to their alliance with Ukraine in the ongoing war.

About 75 million people across are in the verge of losing electricity because they could no longer afford it and all this is as a result of the rising prices of natural gas and coal. It should be noted that with this happenings, many across the world will resort to using

Governments around the world are responding to the crisis by doubling down on clean energy – in the US, EU, Japan, China, India & elsewhere
Their new policies are set to help global clean energy investment rise above $2 trillion a year by 2030, an increase of over 50% from today pic.twitter.com/yWjje7KAHB.Source

This is so quick and is also a response to the outcry of people to facilitate the use of clean energy to reduce global warming and climatic change. Although this will be a long term goal for IEA.

Russia’s supply of internationally traded energy will fall to 13 percent by 2030 from about 20 percent in 2021, the IEA projected.

While reduced supplies of Russian oil, natural gas and coal hit the economy, the outlook projected that further investments in new fossil fuel projects would not be needed.

If they want to switch to nuclear, where they can buy uranium?

"Today the International Energy Agency (IEA) have announced plans to move for greener energy source to replace the fossil fuels supplied by the Russians. This to me is a step towards the right direction."

I wanna bet you are not living in Europe. The sanctions will kill Europe's economy. Businesses are going bankrupt. Families who are going broke. Farmers are forced to sell their land. And fishers were already fucked. Big companies are also going bankrupt which means many people losing their job. This is the end of the Dutch culture.

What a good direction they took hé

Edit: "According to a recent report released by the UN Global Crisis Response Group, an estimated 1.6 billion people in 94 countries are suffering from the cost-of-living crisis, food, and energy poverty, and social unrest exacerbated by the ripple effects of the Ukraine war. As energy prices soar, these countries are unable to meet basic energy needs and become more indebted, and therefore will likely experience setbacks in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals."

"In the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war, though, the urgent need for energy has led the EU to march in the opposite direction of green.

Gas in the eurozone became at least six times more expensive than it was before the pandemic due to energy shortages. The high prices have forced European countries to turn back to coal, which is cheaper and not monopolized by Russia, despite the fact that its combustion emits significantly more greenhouse gases. Just a few months after the Glasgow Climate Conference (COP26),

European countries that had been pushing for the “coal phase-out” proposal are restarting their coal power plants to protect valuable natural gas reserves: Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands announced the lifting of restrictions on fossil-fuel power plants and extend the lives of dozens of coal plants that were scheduled to close by 2030. At the same time, France is also actively considering restarting its Saint-Avold coal-fired power plant, which was closed this March, to meet the demand for winter heating. The surge in European demand for coal is putting additional pressure on coal-producing countries, such as Australia and Indonesia, which are about to reach their export peaks."

So according to my source and observation. Those green lefties are further from their goals then ever.

The green energy is a futuristic goal, but it's what the world needs to help fight climatic change. It's crystal clear that the economic sanctions against Russia is causing Europe a lot at the moment but from my perspective, the green energy goal is a step towards the right direction.

China is transitioning to green energy? Sounds a bit sus since I read a report the other day that showed they were opening new coal-fired plants at a rate that exceeds the rest of the world combined.
