El niño tenía un chancho gordo y cabezón al que llamó Chancho Panza. Tenía además un perro largo y huesudo al que le dio el nombre de Huesoandante. Él haría de don Quijote, pero estaba triste porque no tenía burro para Chancho Panza.

     Como el niño era flaco, su caballo Huesoandante no sufría cuando lo montaban, además, era tan noble que no había intentado huir de casa y esa nobleza lo hacía parecer un verdadero caballo.

     El chanchito se veía tan fiel detrás de su amo por toda la casa, que hacía que a don Quijote le siguiera angustiando la ausencia de un burro para su escudero, pero lo que más le entristecía era que se acercaba el 29 de septiembre, fecha de nacimiento de Miguel de Cervantes, y debía dramatizar una escena del Quijote.

     Y como al bueno lo ilumina lo bueno, esa tarde cuando su papá le dijo que irían a dar un paseo, el niño metió en el carro a su caballo y al escudero, y como ahora iban completo, estaba feliz porque había encontrado burro.

     Cuando su papá se acomodó para hacer de bestia, don Quijote ayudó a subir a Chancho Panza y empezaron el recorrido por el parque ante la vista de todos, que alelados no dejaban de reírse por lo que estaban observando.

     La hazaña grande vino cuando una niña se quedó enredada en un árbol y gritaba pidiendo auxilio; don Quijote arreó a Huesoandante, que corrió abandonando al escudero, quien se había lanzado del burro porque este era más lento que un morrocoy. En resumen, llegó primero don Quijote que los padres de la niña; se paró sobre el lomo de su caballo y cuando intentó desenredar a la niña, llegó Chancho Panza, asustado porque alguien le quiso echar mano; de la carrera que traía Chancho tropezó con Huesoandante, este se vino al suelo con jinete y damisela en apuros, pero justo cuando caían, el burro metió su pecho y los atrapó, evitándoles la caída.

     ─¡Burro!, ─dijo don Quijote─, nos has salvado; eres el mejor del mundo.

     The boy had a fat, big-headed pig he called Chancho Panza. He also had a long, bony dog he called Huesoandante. The boy played Don Quixote, but he was sad because he had no donkey for Chancho Panza.

     Since the boy was skinny, his horse Huesoandante did not suffer when he was ridden, besides, he was so noble that he had not tried to run away from home and that nobility made him look like a real horse.

     The little pig was so faithful in following his master around the house that Don Quixote was still worried about the absence of a donkey for his squire, but what saddened him most was that September 29th was approaching, the date of Miguel de Cervantes' birth, and he had to dramatize a scene from Don Quixote.

     And as good things kindle good things, that afternoon, when his father told him they were going for a ride, the boy got his horse and his squire into the cart, and as they were all there, he was glad because he had found a donkey.

     When his father settled down to play the role of the beast, Don Quixote helped Chancho Panza up and they began the ride through the park under the gaze of everyone, who couldn't stop laughing at what they were seeing.

     The great feat came when a girl got tangled in a tree and screamed for help; Don Quixote herded Huesoandante, who ran leaving the squire, who had jumped off the donkey because the latter was slower than a morrocoy. In the end, Don Quixote arrived first before the girl's parents; he got on his horse and when he was trying to untangle the girl, Chancho Panza arrived, frightened because someone wanted to get his hands on her; from the race Chancho was running he stumbled over Huesoandante, who came crashing to the ground with rider and damsel in distress, but just as they were falling, the donkey stuck out his chest and caught them, preventing them from falling.

     ─Donkey, ─said Don Quixote─, you have saved us; you are the best in the world.
