Orchid Update - Bloom Shoot On The Move

This Will Be A Rather Short Post Today ..

I checked in on Pepper’s Sympathy Orchid today. The Bloom shoot is on the move. It always amazes me how fast these bloom stems grow after they break through the leaves. It’s been 12 days since we first noticed this new bloom bud breaking through the leaves, and since then it has put on almost 2 inches of growth.

I have a rather weird sense of humor. The little bloom shoot looks like a hand reaching up to give me a high five. Hehe. They always look like hands to me. Like a mitten I suppose. I’ll probably half to start staking this up in the next couple of weeks. After it reaches about 5 or 6 inches long I’ll start connecting it to a stake to train it to go upwards before reaching out toward the sun.

The other blooms on this same Orchid, are still looking a beautiful as ever. I am now wondering how long they will last now that the plant is putting it energy into blooming again. I guess we’ll find out together.

All the blooms are still lined up like a little soldiers in a row, and looking very symmetrical. They grew towards the sun which shines through the rear sliding glass doors.

Speaking of the back doors, looks like someone is patiently waiting on me to let them out. Molly!!! Looks like she’s done her dinner and is ready to head outside.

Sooooo.. I’ll take that as a hint to end this post here. Have a great night everyone!

What's the function of the plant and can it be planted around the house?

They can be planted on trees and in pots with the correct media. I wouldn't keep them out doors due to the intense sun, variable weather, and cool nights in this area. If you live in a tropical location, they would likely thrive well outdoors.
