Orchid Update - Part 2

Orchid Update 3478237.png

I Saw Something That Made Me Want To Do This Update ..

I know that I just updated everyone on Pepper's Sympathy Orchid yesterday, but there is something I didn't tell you. Thus I feel the need to write this Part 2 Orchid Update.

I found my way into the kitchen yesterday, big surprise there, and noticed something out of the ordinary.

I was lingering over near the orchid wall .. checking out the orchids in more detail than just from a far. I like to get up and close every other day or so and kind of look at things. I’m looking for moldy media, insect activity like fungus gnat, plants in need of care, route condition, flower condition etc. I’m also looking closely four new blooms spikes and leaf growth.

Things are looking pretty good I guess. Nothing to complain about really. Most of the plants look healthy, and even the one to the far left and not pictured Below, are all doing pretty healthy. The leaves have great turgor pressure, the media is looking fine, the Air roots are a nice plump green color, and the remaining flowers on the one plant are faded but holding on strong.

I begin to look down a bit further.. and my eyes are drawn to the plant with only two flowers left. I feel awful for this poor girl, as she clings to her last two flowers that opened just a couple weeks ago. I don’t have the heart to cut the stem off just yet, but won’t wait too much longer before it has to be done. I don’t want the plant to suffer and get stressed, which may happen if I leave the flowers on too long. The nice thing is I don’t need to rush this decision.

Then just to the right of that I spot this…

IMG_2044.JPG

A Bloom spike, 75% green, 25% brown, and 100% loss of its flowers! Which leads me to the same thing I saw that made me want to write this orchid update.

AHHHH ARRRR OOHHHH NOOOOO…

What is this on the floor?

What are these purple things lying all over the ground down here? Obviously I know what they are. Poor girl dropped all her flowers. This is always sad to see, but I know she’ll bloom again. It’s always so exciting to notice for the first time a new bloom spike pushing through, Watching the growth of the stem, flower buds forming, then finally opening to display something very beautiful. It’s very heartwarming to say the least.

Then This…

IMG_2045.JPG

If one looks hard enough, you can always find something artistic in anything.. even that which seems bleak and sad. Sometimes I have a hard time doing this but in this case, I was able to.

At first I took a general shot of the flowers lying on the floor next to the wall, or they fell from the stand above. Then I thought to myself wait a minute, let’s take a better Photo than that. I got down almost at floor level and took a shot across the plane in the floor.

The photo below is what I captured.

IMG_2040.JPG

I couldn’t obviously leave the photo alone, because let’s be honest it’s not the greatest photo in the world, and I like to play around with editing. I messed with the coloring a little bit and enhanced the purples and blurred out some marks on the wall and a crumb or something on the floor.

Hey! I have a dog crumbs and up all over the place. Molly eats her cookies everywhere and we constantly go around picking them up and vacuuming them up. LOL.

IMG_2042.JPG

If I actually planned this photo better, I wouldn’t have included the cracks slash joints in the tile and along the wall. I wasn’t really thinking it through, rather just taking a more artistic approach and moving on with my day. Hindsight is always 20/20. Either way for the purposes of this post it works just perfectly.

A little more enhancement of the colors lead to this brighter, richer photo.

IMG_2040-01.jpg

Last but not least .. the black and white! You know I like my black and white. I couldn’t leave this post unfinished without a black-and-white photo.

IMG_2040-02.jpg

I think that’s enough.. I’m sure you’re all bored with my artistic view of some dried up flowers on the floor. LOL. I’ll just go about my way and sweep them up, discard them, and wait for the next bunch to form… Hopefully! Fingers crossed!

Until Next Time ..

I'll keep an eye on the Orchids and inform you of any new developments as soon as I see them.

For Now, All Is Quiet Again.

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven't the answer to a question you've been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you're alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”

I really need to go back through some of my photos and play around with some editing. I have never really gotten into it that much. I feel like I would move the wrong slider or something! That is too bad that the plant suffered that trauma. I hope it can recover.

The plant is a okay. It was time for the flowers to drop. She'll bloom again.

I don't think you have any more time for anything else like photo editing. lol. Your super busy with everything sounds like. But maybe just one or two .. hahaha. That's what I said about crypto. 😆

There is something sad about the dead flowers.
The emotions that each image brings up is varying in depth.
The one where you've used the filter is the most cheerful of the lot.

Yeah.. Depressing. I need to post more living pretty flower pictures to make up for this post! lol

Lol no, that is not what I meant and you know it.
Sadness is a normal human emotion and these images bring that out well.

I know.. I was just joking with you. 😆 But sometimes I tend to be a bit morbid or at least blah in my posts. Sometimes. I suppose we are all aloud to have those moments 😊

Oh boy. Maybe listen to some music or try a nice cup of tea. Maybe some snuggles with the fur babies 😊

I like the first and the last options. tea isn't my thing. Besides I just had coffee. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll brace myself up for the task. 😁
