Reached A Reputation of 70!!! and My Clematis Flowers Opened

What Exciting Happened Yesterday?? ..

Wellll... 2 things really. First I reached a Reputation of 70 yesterday!!!! Hoot Hoot!! Seemed like it took forever and a day to get there. I kind of put it off my mind and didn't really think the day would ever come around, then BAM! I almost missed it, that's how much I put it off my mind. I think it's a nice achievement anytime anyone of us ticks up the reputation score. It helps to acknowledge all of the time and efforts we put in creating quality posts.

So for all of you that recently passed a reputation milestone.. CONGRATULATIONS!

Second Exciting Thing ..

The Clematis I was posting about a few days or so ago, is starting to bloom! Sweet!! This was something else I had been anticipating for a while. We had just finished dinner and took Pepper for an evening walk around the neighborhood. On the walk we noticed that the sky to our west was becoming darker and darker. The winds were beginning to pick up. I took notice of the clematis on our return, as it was beginning to sway in the light wind. By the time I made it back out with my phone, to take a few pictures, the skies were about to open up and the wind was gusty. Fear not, I could not let the chance pass to document such a monumental occasion. Looking back on it, probably not the best thing to do when you hear thunder. I didn't get the best pictures due to the darkness and the wind, but you'll get the picture.. pun intended.

The radar says a storm is coming! I have just enough time to get this done. The cool wind feels good anyhow. I just don't want to get struck by a lightning bolt.. although that would make for an interesting post. When the reds on the radar bow out like this, it's a good indication that strong, damaging winds are on their way.

The clouds are looking ominous. They are fastly spreading across the sky, covering any traces of afternoon sunlight.Wisps of dark grey twist and turn, dipping lower as the winds pick up and toss them around. The trees along the lake are roaring as the wind passes over and through them with furry.

The Clematis is shaking and bouncing around, but I am still able to take a recognizable shot of the newly emerged flowers. They are not fully open yet, so maybe tomorrow there will be a better chance for clearer, brighter pictures.

This one here is just about fully opened. Take a look at all of those flower buds just waiting to open up! The flowers, as you can probably see, are a deep rich purple color. They are not super fancy, but still make an impact at the mailbox.

I took a quick trip to the side of the house on my way inside. I saw this plant blowing around this way and that. They are called Swamp Hibiscus, or Scarlet Rose Mallow, or the Texas Star, and they are also known as Scarlet Hibiscus (Hibiscus coccineus). So take your choice of name. They were given to me by my mom a few years ago. Last year they really did well. The flowers are bright red and quite large. The shoots are new every year and grow taller than most people. In the fall I cut them back to the ground. Right now they are knee high and not enjoying the winds.

My rose bush, one of three I planted here and the only one to survive, is also being tossed around in the wind. I think the photo captures the motion well. There was no way I was getting a good clean photo today. Lots of blooms present, but this plant really needs pruned soon.

IMG_6943.JPG

This is the best I can do for a close up of one of the roses. I am being pelted with rain drops.. better run inside!

IMG_6945.JPG

Wow! The sky is about to cut loose! Adios my friends!!!

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

Congratulations on the 70 Rep. Looks like a nice storm, as far as storms go. Our thunderstorms are not like the ones in Texas or Oklahoma, just small affairs really, but I do love those sudden down pours and shifty winds, the pictures came out pretty nice with the weather out there.

Pepper looks like he is thinking of jumping in the lake for a nice swim. Does he like the water?

Thank you!

Me too, love summer storms. Pepper will tolerate the water if i'm in it with him, otherwise he avoids it. Molly hates the water. She hears "Bath" or sees its raining and heads the opposite direction.
