To Help My Mind Reset ~ An Amateur Poem About Morning Coffee

A Poem ..

About my morning coffee. Quick and simple, I tried not to think about it too much. Go easy on me, for I am only an amateur poet. This was something fun for a Sunday morning, while I finished the last few sips of my coffee. Have a fun Sunday everyone! If you have a chance.. enjoy a cup of Coffee!!!

~To Help My Mind Reset~

I've come a long way
From pillow to the door
Opening both my eyes for you
A heavy burdened chore

The simple taste of lust
Remains burned in your truth
Along the way I've forgotten
I missed you in my youth

You need not burn me now
I for only want one sip
For later I will take to you
Like sailors to a ship

On course I move aloft and free
A fickle frown of faith
Stays in rest above her rim
The one forsaken trait

Raise you up to move along
I hooked you like a thief
Your resting spot among the sun
It had to be that brief

Over now and time has passed
I truly don't regret
A single thing I had to do
To help my mind reset

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

“Coffee is a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be, but not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you time, but not actual hours or minutes, but a chance to be, like be yourself, and have a second cup”

― Gertrude Stein

had that for nearly 7 years now. Its great. Quite photogenic too ;) All my repeat guests always used to bring me coffee beans and I could have kissed them all throughout quarantine as it's kept me going. Alas getting low now :(

Loved the poem, very nice for what you say it is only amateur. I love the smell of freshly grounded coffee. I would sniff it for hours lol

Thank you! Don't tell anyone, but I like to squeeze the coffee bags at the store and smell the aroma. 😆 hehe. Sometimes the smell is better than the taste, but I still like them both. 😁

Yeahh! I agree about the smell, it is often much better than the taste itself
