Welcome to the New Age! Hive Launches on Friday... A Message From @denmarkguy

And so, it has come to this...

On this coming Friday, March 20th, 2020 a new chapter in our community's history begins, as a determined group of developers, witnesses, former Steemit, Inc. employees and general community members will start a new — and completely autonomous — fork of what has been (to this point) the Steem blockchain.

I won't get into the technicalities of it because that has already been covered dozens of times in other people's posts... but the short version is IT IS GO TIME!

An Ocean of Opinions: This is Just ONE

I am a content creator, first and foremost. More specifically, I am a blogger, and at times I am also an artist, and for some 20+ years I have been an online entrepreneur.

I am NOT a developer, I am not a blockchainiac, I'm not much of a cryptocurrency aficionado, and I'm really not THAT much of an anarchist.

I AM very interested in new systems that can help humanity — as a whole — move towards a "new age;" an age where individuals function more as their own independent and interconnected "nodes" rather than merely being numbers or cogs in some greater machine controlled by one — or a few — powerful people.

Maybe I'm naive, but I don't believe that a "Hunger Games Future" is the only thing we can look forward to. I believe we can create a more idealistic "Star Trek Future" in which people are free to pursue their own interpretation of excellence, unencumbered by pervasive worry that they are under the eternal thumb of global greedmeisters and wanna-be dictators.

I Support This Move! (And Encourage YOU to, as Well!)

As I said, I'm a content creator. I am a social blogger.

I'm not a "heavy hitter," nor a large scale investor; I'm just a few tokens short of what old Steem lingo would classify as a "Dolphin."

What is important to me is the integrity of more than 1200 top-level posts I have made — almost all of which are "article length" — along with the 3+ year history of social connection and community building.

I want that to continue, and given recent events in Steemosphere, I see that reality being threatened and so I see HIVE as the most promising path forward.

I support the ideals behind the creation of HIVE, but most specifically the idea that the eternal "question mark" that has hung over the Steemit, Inc. "Ninja Mined" stake will be eliminated.

Winter is ending...

Will I Be "Dumping" Steem?

Frankly, I don't see my "allegiance" to HIVE as being contingent on dumping Steem as some sort of political statement of non-support for Justin Sun and his crew. To be honest, I am mercenary and selfish in my own ways.

Based on 20+ years of being involved in the "user-generated web content for rewards" industry — more than 50 such venues, from "epinions" in 1999 to most recently TSU (which is about to revive iteself — but that's a whole other story) — the most likely scenario here is that as part of the continuation of Steem will become a predominantly Asian community.

Not saying this as a form of cultural commentary, but more based on differing approaches to "How To Do Business And Succeed. It's neither "right" nor "wrong," and it's definitely not intended as an absolute of any sort.

But to answer the question, chances are I will power down (and my "alts" as well) my Steem and patiently wait for what I believe will be one of the (almost inevitable) "pumps" by the largest Steem stake holder and sell my Steem at that point and use it to buy more HIVE tokens.

Supporting HIVE, Content and Decentralization

As for my continued content creation, that will happen as part of the HIVE community.

It's my fervent hope that most of the Dapps and Communities and Tribes I have become part of, in the course of my "career" as a Steemian will also migrate — in one form or another — to HIVE.

I still hope to use @steempeak (with a new name?) to create my posts.

I still hope there will be a "PowerHouse Creatives" (aka @steemitbloggers) on HIVE.

I still hope there will be a (rebranded?) Steem-Engine, with all the attendant tribes and respective tokens.

I expect this will be an easier migration for those who didn't include some derivation of the word "Steem" in their name/title.

Time will tell. This is New Territory. Welcome to the New Age!

I was going to talk a bit about decentralization, but there is probably enough material there to create a post as part of @theycallmedan's initiative.

So... what you are waiting for? It's GO TIME!

Thanks for reading!

How about YOU? What's YOUR take on HIVE? Are you moving? Or staying? Or trying to be part of BOTH? Comments, feedback and other interaction is invited and welcomed! Because — after all — SOCIAL content is about interacting, right? Leave a comment-- share your experiences-- be part of the conversation!

Yep! that's right. Even myself also covered thoroughly all the technicalities of the matter with a pretty singular, educative and heavy handed post. };)

I'm going over to Hive as well. Looking forward to seeing your content there as well!

Seems like you have been on a lot of platfroms. I guess you are about to add another one!

Did I write this? Exactly the same way here.
