Choose your song, it's all about Christmas

I decided to pick six Christmas songs that I liked. Only six. This is so much harder than it looks at first glance. Hundreds if not more than that litter my thoughts, running through the scales of songs, in different octaves and timbres. I will have to start off with a song that has been my personal favorite for almost as many years as I have been alive.

Little Drummer Boy

I have to say that this "Old School" version by the Acapella group, Pentatonix is my favorite. This is when they first became known and have since gotten a bit more glamorous with their outfits and makeup, a whole lot more commercialized.

Underneath the Tree

I admit to liking some of the newer versions of things, usually having to do with the video. I am visual as well as auditory. Of course, this one is both. I fully own that I love this song, the beat, the music, and especially her powerful voice.

You Make it Feel Like Christmas

How can you not love this fun song? Yes, it is shameless, but, love it. Aside from the real reason for the season, there is the commercialized part that I love too, I won't lie to you. Keeping it separated is important to me, but, I love both aspects of it.

Oh, Holy Night

I absolutely love the consummate violinist, conductor, and human being, Andre Rieu, best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. He is so loved by his fans and therefore, me. Share with me, this piece by Andre Rieu, while I close my eyes and let in a little bit of Christmas in my soul.

I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, The Christmas Hippo Song

I mean, seriously? Who didn't?

Carol of the Bells

The Vienna Boys Choir version is here, but, I like so many versions, it was hard to pick. I hope you enjoy these and post some for me to look at.

Enjoy these days of Christmas coming!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post, again and again. And never forget, kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

I am a huge fan of Kelly, but Andre Rieu is hands down my man! He is sick right now!!! :(

I never miss him when he comes to the Washington, DC area, which is usually every year. I saw him in Vienna and Washington, DC.... He is the best! I'm not Dutch, but, the man commands the stage and has fun doing it, as does the audience!

That is what I love about him!!! He is so very modest and treats all of his people right.

He is a fine example of a wonderful human being.

Agreed. Andre Rieu's productions are always so wonderful, and the costumes make them over the top awesome.

We are PROUD he is Dutch but now the Covid crisis has hit his company hard and he can’t go abroad to big a risk with so many people in the orchestra. So it’s hard there wre signs the orchestra would go bankrupt so now because he is a export product for the Netherlands maybe the government will help him so big is he here

So many artists are suffering with this same issue. I hope the government helps him and his company, as well as others. Art and music are so important.

I mostly try to avoid much of the popular Christmas music because much of it is just junk that artists mail in because they can.

I do greatly appreciate your selections. I have a fondness for all the artists (even Gayla Peevey who I remember from my youth) and their performances are certainly not junk. The Reiu video brought tears to my eyes. The music is exquisite, of course, but the reaction of the audience was just priceless.

I went looking for this, and it's probably not as good as I remembered, but these two maniacs just have so much FUN.

Thanks Denise.

Oh, hello, Tom! @bigtom13 That is exactly what Christmas is all about! The fun, the togetherness, laughter, and cheer.

I think that was perfect. I love the cello. It has such a beautiful, mellow sound to it! Thanks for sharing that~ I love it!

Enjoyed listening to your 6 favs.... well... except the hippo song, I skipped that. For some reason I never liked it. LOL !

Hadn't seen the "You Make It Feel Like Christmas" vid. That was fun.

I need more of the Libera boys choir though.... I sure do.

Well, they are all my favorite, I just had to do six and that was hard. I had to add the hippo song as my mom always sang that. :) Sometimes, that will make it the favorite, even when the song is only okay. I think of her every time I hear it. :))

I love the boys' choirs and the Mormon Tabernacle. Oh, heck. I just love Christmas!

Awww..... I can totally understand if your mother sang it. 💜

I mostly love Christmas songs any kind of way. There are really only 3 or 4 songs that I don't really like.

Ditto! I love 99% of them and will sing along if you let me. :)) Yes, my mom always floated around the house, singing. She was so young when she got married (16 barely) and she was a kid herself. She used to paint her nails red and wear red lipstick for when my dad got home.

She was always a happy person.
