I Love You, The Season of Joy

I do. I love you! The Season of Joy.

Oh, Christmas, you do it every time.

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there-fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around. " Love Actually"

t's a corny movie, but, I love it. The opening sequence, has Hugh Grant setting the stage for us, one that is so very touching to my soul, making me a lover of this movie, lacking the character development notwithstanding. Eight characters deep, I didn't really expect it to go there, So, if you come over, I'll make popcorn and watch it, all over again.

Who could resist, right?

I revel in the air of Christmas. Truly, I do. There is just that certain magic, with unforgettable carols quietly playing in the background of my mind. The smells I associate - only with Christmas… a mixture of certain spices, Christmas trees, and candy canes with that peppermint twist. Decorations are everywhere, lights are shining bright and people are largely nicer, if not downright pleasant. If I focus on the good, the less good becomes a blur.

Peace on earth, goodwill to men.

I love all these special ornaments that adorn my tree. It brings me back to that time when the most important thing in their life consisted of having enough glue to finish. I love the pride that went into those moments. I love the excitement and homemade love of it. Secretly, I know they love that I still have them. Someday, they may adorn their family tree, when they get to that place in their life.

This year is a little different, but, nonetheless Christmas. I am taking a day next week and driving up to Connecticut to my sister's house. She was so sad she cannot come here, and even though I have zoomed her, it is not the same. I have a rather large gift that was made special for her, so it will be delivered, although just like delivering the car to my sister at the height of COVID, we won't hug or touch, we may have coffee though. It is sort of a gift to myself too. I miss her and just want to see her. She will be totally surprised.

I like giving surprises. Don't you?

Therre are flowers and love and everything in between. Thank you for visiting my post! Just like that, this show is over. Come back tomorrow and we will do it again. Have a great night!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, just how wonderful it really is. For me, I try to do my part. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Shakespeare

Nothing better than a good surprise !

You are so thoughtful.

I've nearly always been able to focus on the good no matter how much bad was swirling around, but it's been a little harder lately. I've got to work harder on my "shut out" abilities.

Love ya !

She will be so excited!! Well, actually, so am I! I think it is nearly impossible to remain socially distant from my sibs, but, that or nothing. I can do it!!!

I usually let the good take over, but, you are right, this is getting harder at the almost 1-year point! Yikes!

As always, you are a breath of fresh air, @dswigle! I love your wonderful attitude, your message of hope and thankfulness, and the smile it puts on my face to read your posts. I love Christmas too. My house is decorated and full of lights to brighten my mood, and I love the scent of pine wafting from the tree, and the lovely candles I have burning. Let's all spread a little cheer this holiday season! It takes no more effort than being grumpy.

You are right, still, love exists in this world, and love always wins no matter how much there is hate belongs. The holiday season is all about sharing joy, love, and happiness with everyone and makes everyone smile and happy. Hate exists and love can be a win over hate...
