Pulling out the Memories

avatar
(Edited)

Some days, it is the smallest things that can touch my heart, my heart. Those are the things that fill up that space, stay in the meaningful mode, and become one of our favorite memories in life. Today, I am getting some of those treasured memories out of the attic to start my Christmas season off. To begin that tradition, all over again, warming my very being. It is not that they are glorious to look at, but the memories attached to them. I know it is such a small thing, but, for today - it fills all the room in my heart. Cherish the small things.

It's here. The ornaments! We all knew it was coming and now I can hardly wait! Magic, lights, glitter, and a dash of hope. Oh, my! Let me unwrap my day with a twist of holiday magic. Embrace all that is shiny and bright with the day and share it with others around you. May this feeling last forever, not for just one day… for loving, sharing, giving – should not be put away like ornaments, lights, and tinsel on some box on a shelf. I put up the nativity today. Just because it was nice and my scissors ran into a pine.

Oh, come all ye faithful.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post, again and again. And never forget, kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

I almost forgot Thanksgiving yesterday, and I often do because it's not an international holiday. It's always a good time to contact friends and family because I know they'll be off work. Seeing your post also reminds me that the day after is when Christmas decorations get pulled from the woodwork. !tan !BEER

Yes! How can you forget when all those Thanksgiving Posts were out there? :)) Did I hear that you were moving soonish? Sounds like another adventure! It is a good time to contact people, although many people are still telecommuting nowadays, so much easier to catch someone!

Oh, yes! I actually love Christmas and all the glittery decorations. Such a wonderful time of year!

Thanks for the tokens and I hope you and your family are doing well@

I couldn't see the photos because of my internet, sorry about that. But reading the words was enough to have mixed feelings from it. Sadness and happiness. It's happy to remember those memories but sad because for now they're only memories. I just hope you have a wonderful day a head.

That is what is sometimes an amazing thing about life. We can make new memories at any time. I am grateful that everyone in my immediate family has stayed healthy, I hope you are doing well and things are getting better over there.

God bless you.

Memories are like a precious library of my life! Too many books stacked up in dust and need to be appreciated from time to time!!

How time flies!
Hope you are jolly and bouncy in spirit!

That is true! We need to revisit the good times and make new memories for future Days. Everything is fine here and even though it's busy oh, I do take the time to look around and enjoy each day so, even if it's only for a moment or three. I hope all is well in your part of the world and the things are looking up in a good way. It seems like our numbers are growing more and more each day and I am hoping that things will improve. As for me and my family yeah, we have been most excellent. I hope that your family is also! Have a most wonderful weekend!

Oh, Denise, you're getting more and more concise! An interesting change in your eclectic style. It would seem that the eclectic has become tiring.

May this feeling last forever, not for just one day… for loving, sharing, giving – should not be put away like ornaments, lights, and tinsel on some box on a shelf.

Alas, how beautiful!
Unfortunately, and you know this, this wish will never be fulfilled.
A quiet weekend waiting for future joys!

The real truth is that I have such little time right now that my posting has become abbreviated and less in content unfortunately. I have taking out some of the things that I liked about my post in order to make them shorter and more concise, perhaps easier to read for some so they don't feel like they are wasting their time. I always appreciate you stopping by and leaving your words and perhaps my time will become more as covid-19 eases up.

You are probably the only one who has noticed that my style has changed. I thank you for that. I hope you and your wife are feeling better and better each day and that you have a most wonderful weekend.

Of course, time is a growing problem. I, in my unconscious, often wanted to get sick so I could stay home and write more. I've been living in the house for almost twenty days now and I can't do more. Something always intervenes and ruins my plans.

I like your concise posts, maybe this is the solution for the future.

We feel better but, unfortunately, my wife is more affected and has a harder time recovering. I hope we have passed any danger (the evolution in cases of covid is often unpredictable and does not resemble from one person to another).

Thanks a lot, Denise! All the best and be safe from the dangers of now!

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope that she makes a good turn. Both of you are in great shape, so I have every inclination that she is just a little slower, but, will heal along with you.

I will be sticking with concise for now, perhaps forever. Who knows, right? :)

Thank you for your confidence, and I think it will happen.

I think it 's the best choice to stay concise, I would like to be able to too but for now I'm confused by details and stories.
Anyway, you're a good teacher to me.

You are right, of course. Especially now. Sometimes I cannot, but, it seems that I can put it out with less fuss by doing this.

Why can't you?

Of course, I love yours just the way they are.

Of course!
Because I am eclectic in my head, while writing I get other ideas, memories and so I keep lengthening the story. I also like it but I know that something more concise would be better.

I just put up my vintage aluminum tree last night, complete with color wheel and tree turner base. LOL.... Of course the house is upside down where I moved things around to fit it in and didn't start putting it together till midnight ! I don't have any shiny baubles on it yet. I don't over dress it.

Of course while fetching the boxes for those few things I had to open several more. Seeing some of the other fun decorations made me want to pull out more and more and MORE !

Guess "more" will be happening today.

Love those glittery gold sunflowers !

When I left work Tuesday (OK,..just signed off across the room ha ha).... I had 5 days off ahead of me. Just like normal, the first 3 slipped by in the blink of an eye (there is a poem in the making there somewhere)..... and it is Saturday already ! Make it slow down.... wouldja ???

Love ya !

I have a small aluminum tree and it is never overdressed! It just has red balls on it - and even then, only a few. I think it looks best with less. It already is more!

Of course you fooled around for a few!! When do you get time to do that without people bothering you? :)) I love those sunflowers too! I want more!!! Now, I expect to see all the glitz and glam tonight or tomorrow in a post. I can hardly wait. Your place is one of the happiest around!

I look forward to it. And I just slowed Saturday down for you.... Oh, and next week too. :)) Too much? Be careful what you ask for. Hehehehehe!

Love you too!

oh no ! don't slow next week.... except for Wednesday and the weekend. Thursday and Friday need to be a blur.... cause those are phone hedoublehockeysticks days.

I haven't done anything yet. Is it after 4 already?? OMGoodness..... I need someone I can just "tell" to do it. LOL.... I still think and plan to do all the good stuff, but my follow-through ain't what it use to be.

Send over your magic wand for a while please.

I sucked it up and did it one day last week. To be fair, I only did three trees so far and I may skip the fourth.

Le sigh.

No company this year means I can take it easy. :)) I love it all shiny and bright though. Do it tonight! You will be glad you did!!!

I am always glad after it is done, all my happy things all around.

I don't like putting it away though. That is why it sometimes doesn't happen till March ! ha
