Hello 🐝lovely🐝bees🐝! It’s Thursday 15th October 2020!!! Happy Almost-Friday !
Yesterday was a pretty wet day. I spent a couple of hours doing my online course and then afterwards I joined my wife in the artisanal shop. I took the dogs for a walk and got absolutely soaked.
In the evening we watched Macron set out the latest plans. It seems a little half hearted. He is imposing a curfew on 9 city areas in France. But the two week school holidays are coming up and he specifically hasn’t imposed any restrictions on movements and holidays. So people can leave those areas and go elsewhere where there are no such restrictions and spread the virus there. I don’t really get it. And I am speaking as someone with a vested interest in the tourist industry. It seems to me we are going to see a surge around the country. We’ll see.
So the Hard Fork went ahead and apparently was successful. Once the little niggles are sorted all eyes will be on the next Hard Fork. It will be the next one which determines the direction Hive will take. I await the proposals with interest…
Today, I am working another shift in the artisanal shop, I also need to do some paperwork and work on my website.

I hope your day went well.
The hard fork has caused some annoying issues with @ecency, the current desktop app is completely broken and mobile is buggy. Looks like @elsbeth5's scheduled daily post was also lost due to the hard fork, which is a shame as it would've been the 7th in a row.
I'll be putting up a short post soon about that.
There are always problems with HFs. It is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for adoption in my opinion. "normal" people wouldn't accept the 2-3 day problems that always follow a hf

There doesn't necessarily have to be problems, although making a smoother transition would require more coordination between DApp developers, Hive developers, and witnesses.
The biggest issue I've seen is the seemingly sudden changing of APIs, though the functions that Ecency's desktop app used may have already been deprecated so I'm not certain the changes were sudden. It's generally good practice to keep at least one or two major versions of backwards compatibility to the best degree possible. This increases maintenance significantly though.
There have always been issues with Hard Forks and Hive (Steem before that), even when they were centrally organised by steemit (in fact you could argue that this HF, and the one that preceded it that split the blockchain, were smoother)
It is good to see you getting involved in the blockchain and bringing your perspective.
