Packed Day / 🇲🇾 63rd's Independence Day

I intended to write this yesterday but it didn't happen due to quite a packed day yesterday. We had guests in the house, my another brother (I have another brother is still staying with me) and his wife and two beautiful daughters were here with us. As usual, when there were guests coming especially children, I would ensure the house was safe and age-appropriate. Anyway, it was our nation's 63rd Independence Day yesterday.

Wave the Malaysia flag!

I took opportunity to have a short and simple lesson with the boys about the meaning of the flag, the colours symbol, why 14 stripes, why the moon and the stars with 14 spikes. But, when I asked them to draw the flag, the interest wasn't there yet. I told when I was young, I really love to draw the Malaysia flag and I was very good at it. My own self proud moment, huh?

Husband bought back alot of flags the other day so it was properly used, the boys held it, sang the song and we took pictures with the flag. The most significant meaning was to celebrate our Independence Day.

We had simple lunch at home then the guests were here.

And the boys got so excited because uncle bought them twin Spiderman Tshirt. They quickly went and tried. They surely missed the uncle whom stayed with us for few years until he got married and shifted out.

The nieces really had a blast at our house. We all knew when we were at other people's house, all the toys were new. The nieces explored alot of toys, like cars, wooden toys, magnetic blocks, robots, golf set, kicking balls, etc. My children had a great time playing with their cousins. We adults busy making sure the children were alright. Haha.

After they left, I needed to tidy up the house and cleaned the house, abit of my OCD here. They did help to tidy up, but I wanted the toys back to the correct shelves, so I was sure I had some OCD syndrome.

Our multi-ethnic country

At the end of the day, the boys especially the youngest one did ask about Independence Day and what did it mean, why people celebrate it with fireworks (although this year it was almost minimal to none due to pandemic), we got to share some of our country's history, past and now. And the boys said he really love his nation, that he has so many friends of different races and cultures and he had so many choices of food to choose from. Never get bored eating in Malaysia. I could not agree more.

Have you been to Malaysia?

It's so nice of you to teach them the multi-cultural aspect of your country. We need more of that from parents who instruct their children to love thy neighbor as thyself.

Thank you for sharing your lovely family with us. They are precious.
