Short Tour along Brazil's Natural Beauties: Lagoa Azul, Coroatá, and Rio Solenidade

Hi, dear Hivers

Today, I want to share with you some pictures from an excursion I took before the quarantine and the whole Covid-19 thing. I was new in Sao Luis, Brazil, met some guys my age in an academy where I was enrolled to prepare for the college admission exam and they invited me to know these three places that are about 2 hour-drive from Sao Luis.

Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon)

This amazing lagoon is located in the Rosario Municipality, state of Maranhao, some 76 km from Sao Luis. I was told this lagoon was the result of a quarry excavation back in 2009.

If it was some sort of "accident", it could not have been more beautiful.

The water is crystal-clear and fresh.

This was our first stop in a tour. We left Sao luis warly in morning. After a couple of hours, we stopped for breakfast. We arrived to the lagoon at about 8:30 am. At 11 am we got ready for our next stop.

Lagoa Coroatá

We got deep in the jungle and changed blue for green.
Even thought the place looks scary I saw barely tiny fish.
It was cloudy and cold. The vehicles were parked far from the place. There are not facilities for people to stay, cook or anything. It's just you and mother nature.

River Solenidade

Our last stop. It was a bit late to be that far from civilization, so we did not stay too long here. It is a nice place with no particular story to tell (that I know of) or something spectacular to show, but for people who had not seen a river it is good.

I think that they have done a good job preserving these natural beauties. Difficult access has contributed to their preservation, as long as strick rules to visit (no plastic, no nothing that can be left behind and pollute). Very few people visit these places at a time and that is a good thing. We need to preserve places where we can be closer to nature at its best.
