Más allá de querer distinguir el significado de los signos y símbolos en sí, quisiera en este post resaltar el valor que los mismos tienen en nuestras vidas, así que para la finalidad de este escrito podemos tomarlos como sinónimos.
Toda nuestra vida está llena de ellos, desde que el niño nace, la sonrisa de sus padres trasmite algo que está mucho más allá de una expresión facial, pues, es alegría, amor, esperanza, agradecimiento, etc.
Luego a medida que nos desarrollamos, vamos comprendiendo que el ser humano valora mucho aquellos gestos que las palabras solas no pueden abarcar: un abrazo, un beso, una mirada, una caricia, un saludo, un regalo, etc. Todas estas cosas quieren significar y simbolizar muchos sentimientos y emociones que guardamos en nuestro interior.

Our whole life is full of them, since the child is born, the smile of his parents transmits something that is far beyond a facial expression, because it is joy, love, hope, gratitude, etc..
Then, as we develop, we come to understand that the human being values very much those gestures that words alone cannot encompass: a hug, a kiss, a look, a caress, a greeting, a gift, etc. All these things want to mean and symbolize many feelings and emotions that we keep inside us.
Por esta razón, debemos aprender a interpretar todo aquello que acontece en nuestras vidas, su significado y razón de ser. Por ejemplo, hoy los cristianos católicos tenemos una festividad religiosa donde se impone la ceniza a los fieles ¿Por qué?
En primer lugar, desde antiguo la ceniza era utilizada como signo del compromiso de la persona para mejorar algún aspecto de su vida, para convertirse de sus malas acciones y hábitos.
También, según uno de los relatos bíblicos, el ser humano fue creado del polvo de la tierra, lo cual quiere decir que somos seres débiles (La pandemia ha demostrado esto magistralmente) pero también que nuestra vida aquí en la tierra es pasajera (Somos polvo y, al morir, eso mismo volveremos a ser).
Esto es un ejemplo para que veamos que al asumir un signo (la ceniza en este caso), nos mueve un motivo que está más allá de lo que vemos.

This is an example for us to see that when we assume a sign (the ash in this case), we are moved by a motive that is beyond what we see.
El uso de los signos y símbolos traspasa incluso fronteras, nos ayuda a superar obstáculos. Por eso, podemos expresar de qué país somos mostrando nuestra bandera (🇻🇪).
Lo importante de todo esto es que reconozcamos el valor que tienen. Nosotros necesitamos de ellos para podemos comunicarnos y expresarnos con mayor claridad.

Por eso, para mí no existe mayor signo y símbolo que nuestra propia vida, ya que todo lo que en ella realizamos expresa muchas cosas, desde una simple mirada hasta una espectacular demostración de nuestros afectos.
