Quizá por el día a día, las ocupaciones diarias y una mentalidad comercial extendida en nuestras comunidades, al oír hablar de inversión pensamos naturalmente en dinero.
Ésta no es la realidad, el dinero, necesario para nuestras vidas, es sólo un tipo de inversión, pero la realidad es que sólo se refiere a una dimensión de nuestro ser, la económica, y somos más que economía.
Comprendí esto en profundidad hace un par de años, y desde entonces puedo decir que me siento mejor conmigo mismo, pues no siempre es posible hacer una inversión desde el punto de vista económico, menos aquí en Venezuela, pero siempre es posible hacer primero una inversión en uno mismo, pero también una inversión en nuestras relaciones humanas.
Invierto en mí mismo cuando me educo, cuando estoy atento y cuido de mi salud, cuando tomo tiempo de distracción, de diversión, de sano ocio, en resumen, cuando practico un auténtico amor propio.

I invest in myself when I educate myself, when I am attentive and take care of my health, when I take time for distraction, for fun, for healthy leisure, in short, when I practice an authentic self-love.
La inversion en las relaciones humanas es igual de fundamental que la anterior, pues, cada día de una u otra manera estamos relacionandonos con los demás, por lo tanto, mínimamente quisiéramos que estas relaciones sean agradables y no un tormento para nosotros.
Aquí lo importante es que no nos detengamos en lo que los demás hacen sino lo que nosostros hacemos por cultivar buenas relaciones. Allí es donde debemos estar atentos para, por ejemplo, seleccionar a nuestros amigos, para que sean realmente unas personas que sumen cosas buenas a nuestras vidas.
Por otra parte, también es importante cultivar una relación para que - como a veces se escucha - ésta no muera, pues, es muy triste cuando sólo acudimos a alguien cuando necesitamos algo de esa persona y no simplemente por el valor que ésta encierra.
Así, pues, como he descrito, cuando hablemos de inversión no pensemos sólo materialmente sino que ampliemos nuestras perspectivas, les aseguro que es una experiencia renovadora.
The investment in human relationships is just as fundamental as the previous one, because, every day in one way or another we are relating with others, therefore, at least we would like these relationships to be pleasant and not a torment for us.
Here the important thing is that we do not stop at what others do but what we do to cultivate good relationships. That is where we must be attentive to, for example, select our friends, so that they are really people who add good things to our lives.
On the other hand, it is also important to cultivate a relationship so that - as we sometimes hear - it does not die, because it is very sad when we only go to someone when we need something from that person and not simply because of the value of that person.
So, as I have described, when we talk about investment, let's not only think materially, but let's broaden our perspectives, I assure you that it is a renewing experience.
