SKYPE PARTIES...

Skype Birthday Parties and Special Celebrations may be the order of the day now that the whole world is in the grip of a horrid Virus that slyly makes itself at home undetected for about two weeks before it start showing its tentacles!
Being in Lockdown, Skype probably is the next best thing; let's just hope and pray that it's not going to be a Skype Christmas this year!
Here in South Africa with 554 cases confirmed today, our new president announced a 21 day Lockdown starting tomorrow at midnight; the army is already deployed as restaurants and bars were ordered to close at 6pm a couple of days ago, but from tomorrow midnight, only supermarkets and pharmacies will be open; shopping malls and all businesses have to close down for 21 days.
The economic effect is going to be huge, but if these measures were not put in place, the effects of the virus will be catastrophic; scary times indeed - can we call this the modern plague?

SYMPTOMS

In the beginning it feels like a mild flu so of course one carries on with life as normal - going to work, shopping, visiting friends etc etc.
A sore throat, mild fever, aching body and a dry cough are the usual symptoms.

DANGER...

Danger strikes however when the Virus finds its way to the lungs and starts wreaking havoc, especially when it's host is an old or sickly person!

TWO WEEKS SPREADING THE VIRUS UNKNOWINGLY...

That two week incubation period seems to be the danger of Covid-19, and as someone who tested positive said -
One should not be scared of contracting Covid 19 if you're young and healthy, but you should be very scared of spreading this highly contagious disease, especially to the elderly or the sick.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO STOP THIS PANDEMIC?

  • Avoid contact with others - keep your distance if you have to go out for essentials.
  • Wash your hands frequently even if you have not been out.
  • When you return after being out, remove shoes and clothes; wipe shoes & soles with a disinfectant and immediately place clothes in a bucket of hot soapy water.
  • Leave your bag, wallet & keys at door entrance, wipe those down with disinfectant – don’t forget your car either - car steering wheel, hand brake, gear lever etc etc!
  • Wash your hands and disinfect door handles and any surfaces you touched – use diluted bleach -4 tsp bleach per 1 litre water or rubbing Alcohol (at least 70% alcohol).
  • Have a shower, washing hair each time you return from a visit to the stores or wherever.
  • Disinfect your mobile phone and glasses.
  • NEVER touch your face especially do not rub your eyes.
  • If you get sick, isolate yourself and warn others you’ve been in contact with.
  • Drink warm liquids and eat good nutritious food, especially food that is high in Vitamin C & Zinc

This virus pandemic will change life going forward in many ways, we will only start seeing the affects once the last infected person is declared, who knows how long that will take.

Stay safe and look after your family.
