MY STEEM STORY

A Power House Creatives Initiative

Power House Creatives _night mode.png

Everyone has a story – and all our stories have something in common… we all started from nothing and knew nothing. People want to hear stories. They want to hear OUR stories — they want to know who we are, where we are from, what we are doing, who and what we love, what we have learnt and where we are going. People also want us to hear their story! Being a part of the Steem network is an individual journey for every single one of us and through this initiative we will share our stories not only with all who are already here – hopefully inspiring, guiding and informing them… but doing the same for everyone else in the world too. Through our stories we will prick the curiosity of those who have not yet arrived and illuminate and widen the already open doors to our one in a million blockchain.

We invite and encourage each and every one of you to participate and share your stories too! You can find the "how to" details at the end of this post.

Where my Steem Journey began

This has been a very long and very difficult journey, especially for a person who had no idea how to manage a blog, but was very eager to learn.

My journey started at August 2017 and it's been almost three years! I met Steem through a friend who is no longer active but who taught me how to open my account and how to do my introducyurself. I must confess that the first thing that attracted me was the monetary benefits that I would get just by blogging! So I thought that would be very good since I was unemployed and starting my life in another country far away from mine.

But soon reality hit me showing that it was not as simple as I had been told to make money! lol But I kept writing and then everything got better! It was exciting to read the comments left in the posts and the feedback with the other Stemians was what made me stay!

My initial challenges & how I overcame them

After a few months I joined some Discord Serves and received the support of several communities, they helped me to make my posts more beautiful and above all to understand how something called "markdown" worked. I must confess that my posts were a disaster!lol

I remember that after I published the post I had to edit it over and over again because it never fit! Sometimes I'd give up! Luckily some good Steemians had done some tutorials that helped me a lot in the process. Little by little I learned to place the pictures well, insert quotes, and so on until I managed to make up my posts very well, because that was very important for your publications to be taken into consideration when being evaluated by the teams of content curators.

Another point that was difficult for me was to understand how the wallet works, I had no idea how the rewards were distribute, what was the difference between Steem, SP and SBD. I remember that I was afraid to make some changes to fiat currency, I heard many stories of people who had their passwords stolen and their coins were withdrawn from their accounts, that gave me a lot of doubt and for a long time I did not make any withdrawals. There have always been people willing to help others and that is very much appreciated.

My Steem blockchain knowledge

At first my knowledge about blockchain and cryptocurrencies were out of this world to me, I had never heard of such a thing! haha! I still laugh when I remember, Every time I went on a podcast, I got even more tangled up and I was sorry to ask because I understood absolutely nothing! Now I have some basic knowledge on the subject. But I don't know enough! Although I've been in the block chain for almost three years I must confess that it's still very difficult for me to get all that information into my hard head! hahaha! I'm still learning, but what I do know for sure is that everything you do in the block chain stays in the chain forever, that's the most important thing! 😂

My Steem favourites

What I do most within the blockchain is share pictures, tasty recipes that I think of preparing from time to time and also talk about experiences and travels. I try to participate in contests that are about photographs and topics about telling stories that have happened to me or talking about things like this challenge that I am now participating in. Although I have often had to step away from the blockchain for personal reasons, I always come back and try to catch up on the changes. This year I took my blog again and I'm still learning about front-ends I don't know yet which one is the best or most comfortable to publish, I'm still trying with two of them, @esteemapp I like to use it on the phone and for using the app you are rewarded with some tokens that you can use later to vote your posts. I like that! @Steempeak I use it on the computer, because it's a friendly interface, but as I said I'm just trying them out.

My golden nugget advice

It is well known that each person's experience within the blockchain is very different. It is a very personal journey and each person has something different to share. The first thing I would say to someone who only comes for the money is to give it back, Yes! Just get back! Here you will not find it, or at least not very fast. What I can advise everyone who embarks on this journey is to be patient and persevering, to enjoy writing about what they like best and to do it with passion, to learn every day, to integrate into the communities of Discord, to appreciate and value the people who always give you a helping hand. When you have a time on Steem and find your place you will never leave!

My Steem hood & its peeps

I have met wonderful people on different servers both in English and Spanish. I spend most of my time on the Spanish speaking servers since it is my main language. I have hosted live healing activities, I have also led healing projects with photographic content, but as I said before for personal issues I have had to leave them. I am starting to get more involved in the English speaking servers like @Ocd, that is where I have learned about front-ends and tribes, also @esteemapp, @upmewhale, etc. I used to be in many servers but now I am more selective as I do not have much time to be active in so many. At the beginning of my journey I started on the @cervantes server then I met @votovzla community which is where I've met more wonderful people and made some friends that even though I don't know them personally we can always help each other. The charming @alarconr22.arte, the funny @mariana4ve, @enrique89, @samgiset, the singer-songwriter @eugelys, my dear friend @leveuf, my crypto master @chuckyfucky although you are no longer on this trip I thank you for everything you taught us!

I also follow many English-speaking Steemians, especially photographers, since photography is the subject I like to share the most. I must admit that there are very good professional photographers at Steem (some have already left), but I am keeping learning every day from those who are still on this journey. I do not have much feedback with them, but I always visit their blogs to see what wonders they share. I can name @derangedvisions ( I love the story behind each photo, I also like their contests), @carlosadolfochac (I follow him recently he takes some extraordinary photos), @gringalicious ( I love her photos of food), @kotturinn ( I love how she plays with The Light in her photos, also of food), in short they are so many that I am following that it would make the post too long if I named them all.

I think it is really amazing how many people arrived in this space, not having a clue about blogging or about blockchain technology... but they challenged themselves (just as you have) because they wanted to learn!

It is a very personal journey and each person has something different to share.

This is so very true and we ALL have something we can learn from one another! This is how we grow!

Thank you so much for taking part in this! Am so happy to have met you!
