Looking Up

Day 2 of @fotostef's photography improvement challenge: Looking Up.

Looking up is easy! Looking up to find something interesting on a cloudless day is not so much. Especially when the trees are not really yet in bloom.

Yet, where there's a will, there's a way, and a few trees with just a few colouring buds on them.

_DSC7614.jpeg

These were some trees in the local park by the creek. The park has a playground which is closed (I made a point of touching nothing other than my camera), and I found I really like the red, white, and kinda dead trees beside each other.

_DSC7616.jpeg

The bright blue background was also nice; in a way, it almost takes the place of negative space.

You had a lovely day out there!
I wasn't so lucky with my looking up day ☹️

It was really really windy, and I nearly had my hat blow off, but it was nice and sunny! I was able to take some pictures with my digital pinhole camera, too. That'll be another post. 😀

Oh yes, I was going to ask you about the pinhole, can't wait to see what it does outside :)

Positive!

Motivational seeing new life presenting itself in nature, the blooms are beautiful and uplifting.

It's always so nice to see life spring forth. I think it's time to start working on the plants and veggies, too.

It's surprisingly a little more difficult than I thought it would be. In this case I actually had to see the trees individually. As a whole they look great, but the trick was to frame it as a limited vision photograph.

Such a beautiful contrast between the flowers and the blue sky! Nice shots!

Thank you! It definitely would not have worked as well if it was a cloudy day. I was lucky!

This is beautiful.... must be great to have trees that have colours other than green on top of them! We only get green leaves here...

They don't stay that colourful for long. Once they bloom it's all a carpet of green here, too. I need to get to it before it's too late! My tree in the front yard is a 'red bud' and will soon be turning a bright red.

Red White and Blue!

I think I need to go see your post about the pin hole camera. Did you make it or was it made by a company? Do you develop your film also?

I made the pinhole myself. the details are here - https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@wwwiebe/behind-the-photo-the-digital-pinhole-camera - but the short of it is I drilled a tiny hole into camera lens cover and used that. It's pretty neat if I do say so myself!

I do not yet develop my own film. Interestingly, in addition to the pinhole project, I've also started using some antique cameras with 120 and 620 sized film. I'm sending the film to professional developers until I'm confident that I'm taking the photos correctly, then might see if I can build a dark room somewhere in the house.

Love the red and white contrast of the trees. There is always beauty in nature we just need to stop and look.

That is exactly what the purpose of the exercise was. We get so busy being caught up in our every day lives that we miss what's right in front of us.

I've always loved looking up! Buildings in cities are often pretty interesting. Lovely blue sky you have there 🐝

I got lucky that day with the blue sky! It has been naught but cloudy, since.

Buildings are definitely great, too! There are no tall ones here, really, but we do have some might fine trees!

Thanks! And yes, it's true; the more you look, or even re-look at your typically surroundings, the more you'll find.

Beautiful trees, @wwwiebe! I'm glad you found some budding and flowering trees to photograph. I'm sure it will be exploding in the next few weeks!

I certainly hope so! I really enjoy the initial Spring bloom of colour as much as the final Autumn reds and yellows.

What beautiful photographs you take, the coloring is exciting to the eye and generates a lot of peace and joy in moments of confinement. Thank you for sharing, as well as the analogy regarding the images. I loved your publication. My support here and a hug, @wwwiebe.

Not warm enough for that here yet WW @wwwiebe. I did see the orange lilies are starting to sprout outside, around the house.

Sometimes God has a beautiful way of telling us that there is still hope, that the world is still breathing. These trees with their colors is proof of that. Good pictures for these days of confinement. Thank you for sharing.

Trees have a way of always looking good for a picture. Whether they are fully green or totally leafless, even chopped trees can provide aesthetically (even if at times disturbing) pleasing images. These pictures are great. I love those varieties of trees that can fill themselves with flowers without one single leaf.

Thanks for the kind words! I agree, I love trees, and woods, and the like. One of my more favourite things to do is hike through the State Parks and enjoy the shapes and sizes of trees. When I can get my youngest son out, he loves it too.

Good stuff Victor, I didn't know about this challenge. I just took some a few minutes ago, I called them "The Flowers of Boredom" I'd been without power (therefore internet and wifi) for over an hour, so I went for a walk around the complex and snapped some photos of the flowers in the complex.
You got my upvote and reblog @wwwiebe

Thank you! Hopefully some photography was a nice way to spend the time without power. I bet it was quiet, too! It's amazing how much noise our houses make, even when we're not doing anything.

This is true, however I don't notice much of it, since I have Tinnitus VERY badly.
It is as if I live in a room filled with tuning forks, all "Middle C" (for instance)
but they are all VERY SLIGHTLY out of tune with each other.
It is maddening. In fact it is worse when there are NO other sounds.
At night, I have a "sound conditioner" machine that produces the sounds of several environments.
For years I used a thunderstorm, but now I've switched to surf.
Over these things I can overlay other sounds, which I use songbirds, owls, frogs, hawk and dove.
You would think this would interfere with my musical endeavors but it doesn't, I think my performing covers the ringing the same as my sound conditioner does.
It is a strange malady.
I'm not sure if I made a post here with those images I took, but if not I will and I'll tag you Victor @wwwiebe

Thank you very much! It has been so cloudy lately that I made a point of enjoying the blue sky when I could. It's a funny thing, clouds; they're a necessity for life, yet we always seem to want them somewhere else.

Lovely view of the trees. Thanks for sharing. The red and white is a stark contrast. To not be in bloom, they are beautiful as is.
