Seven Days, Seven Games: Day 5: Battle Pong
Unlike my previous four "Seven Days, Seven Games" posts, this post, and the two that will follow, are games that I actually have in active development (meaning, when I get some free time, I work on them). Today's game: Battle Pong!
Battle Pong is an updated twist on the classic pong. The basic game remains the same: two paddles ricochet a ball back and forth to score goals. What makes my version unique, however, is that the paddles are tanks and, in addition to deflecting the ball, they also shoot at each other.
Further, all the assets are drawn by my 11 (then 10) year old son. This makes it a family game.
I do have plans to commercialise this game. There are some immediate improvements I need to perform to have a minimal viable product, and then additional improvements to make the overall theme more interesting. We're working on additional arenas, powerups and, of course, colour. Colour might cost a rosy $0.99 for a nice coloured tank. I've explained to my son that because this is a joint venture between the two of us, all profits will be split evenly.
More to come on this one! This is a work in progress.
