Some Saturday Fire Hydrants
I came across a couple neat-to-me fire hydrants today. I've been keeping an eye out for interesting looking fire hydrants lately, to the point that I've caught myself looking at them on television shows. It's sad, but that's who I am.
Anyway, I found these today. I really like the colouring on this first one. There's nothing too special about it otherwise; it's a standard Mueller hydrant that the City of Newark standardly uses. I just like the orange top. It's classy.
The next is also another standard Mueller, but with a blue top.
The poor dude has seen better days; he's gotten pretty beat up. I hope someone comes by to give him a hand at some point.
Lastly, I found one of a type I've not seen before. I felt like a kid in a candy store! A new shape fire hydrant! Woowoo! Look at the longer, oblong cap. What is this odd creature I see before me?
It is a Kennedy, from Elmira, NY. Obviously from 2006. I'm going to need to keep an eye out to see if I can find any more of them anywhere. This one was just outside the city limits, so I might find some more out thattaway.

I love how you get out there and do the fire hydrants. It is also interesting to see how they do it in other cities. I have been fascinated by some!
My faves are the blue and red hats. How sexist!

Well, you know what they say about redhats... (I think)
Oh, no. I really don't. Tell me, tell me, tell me do.
Oooh, that's easy! They're easier to open and bring a stronger rush of water!
Ha! Of course!

Oh wow that one looks to be really rough!
He's been through a lot, I think, yet still ready to step up at a moment's notice. I might see if I can go hunt down some new ones today.
The first two look like they can be in a comic book , firefighter Sam watch out there a two new hero’s here
LOL! I didn't even think of them looking like they're wearing a uniform!
Some googly eyes and you have a winner
Oooooh! Yeah!
Quirky and interesting, not something one thinks about looking at and photographing.
Perhaps time has arrived to pay more attention to what ours look like Victor.

It all started when I was on a short road trip with two of my boys. I had asked them if I could take their photo in front of an historic building. They declined, despite my urings. So I decided to do the next best thing and took a photo of the fire hydrant that was in front of the building. It wasn't going to protest! I've been looking at fire hydrants since.
My sons are also against photos, as am I, very seldom get photos of people, unfortunately does not help as you get older you want all those memories....
