This Week in Zeke - SuperFunHappyWeekend!
Your Zekely Update© is designed to share a bit of the adventure that is my life, a way for me to reflect upon a great week, and some awesome filler for the beginning of the week to look forward to! In the last while, they have been a little far in between as life changes, new and exciting things gather your interest, and I have been boldly striding more in business conquest than physical trials and have not been taking as many photos as I usually do.
Well screw all that because, this past weekend, I unapologetically unplugged on Friday and packed a week's worth of hi-jinx into a single weekend! Lets see if I still have it as I descend upon the big city....
Time to play
The weekend is inspired by my better half, her yearly work conference, and need for a little arm candy for the festivities. Wife points AND fun? You bet.
Gigolo duties aside, I managed to carve myself out a little juvenile computer time to start the week while conferences were on. I checked in on the block chain (as reported that day here https://steemit.com/hive-114105/@zekepickleman/bragpost-my-office-for-the-day) and spent the next few hours playing LAN games with a few of the lads. What is special about this is that we have been gathering with our computers for over 20 years and have the ability through individual successes to be in the position to screw off on a Friday and have some pointless, timeless fun. That and a few beers. Speaking of which.......
BEER!
I wouldn't be a Beerologist worth my stripes if I didn't visit one of the local craft breweries. I am not known for going conservative so I decided to visit 3 of them in order to put up a worthy representation for #beersaturday here https://steemit.com/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/beersaturday-on-superbowl-sunday You can check out the details of my frothy fun there but the abridged version is stops at Henderson Brewing https://hendersonbrewing.com/, Great Lakes http://www.greatlakesbeer.com/ and Stonehooker Brewing Company https://stonehooker.com/
3 breweries in one weekend....just for you (and me.)
The Big City
Toronto is a neat city in which I lived for decades until recently. 5 million or so hosers wrapped around the north coast of Lake Ontario in what feels to me like a bunch of small cities crammed almost too close together. Always lots going on and traffic that will slow you getting there. Still, I make it back whenever I can as I have family, friends and events that call me back regularly.
This is the same shot in the daytime from the edge of the lake looking northward into the concrete jungle. As happy as I am to be out of the rat race, I am as happy to flick on the switch and jump back in for a couple days. The castle on the waterfront is a good enough overpriced hotel with a nice bar and plenty of travelers staying on the company tab. I always seem to run into someone I know from screen or stage and this time, it was Jack Armstrong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Armstrong_(basketball) who I share a few nights a week as he calls the Toronto Raptors games. "GIT THAT GAHBAGE OUTTA HERE!"
The Basketball!
I seem to be as much about the smooth segues as I am usually with the awesome alliterations today. The home team was on the road so we went down to Jurassic Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_Leaf_Square and hit up the Real Sports bar to watch. I took enough shots to put together a @tasteem review of our real sports, beer & nachos experience. You will have to wait with baited breath for that review but I may as well share a bit of my patented Dramatic Extreme Close-up...
Best nachos I have actually had in a while!
Fun and Games
I would be lying if I said the weekend wasn't mostly fun & games. I love seeing the pinball machines make a vinyl-like comeback. Digital video games and MP3s have taken over but there is something special about the organic and analog records and pinball! I love em both.
Did You SPUD?
Not a huge one but my buddy @bengy knows the power of consistency. https://steemit.com/spud/@zekepickleman/spud-x
Even Canadians gather, pig out, have some beverages and watch the Superbowl! I pulled up my squares on the @davedickeyyall pool and watched a great game unfold. I was lucky enough to have 0-0 which matched with the scores at the end of the first half and third quarter to win 40 STEEM! More for SPUD at the end of the month! My better half was the big winner as she was in a pool with her friends, also had 0-0, and walked away with $200! Go sports GO!
Release the NERDS!
This was the scene to finish off the weekend as I ducked out of the Superbowl party to join the nerds playing Dungeons and Dragons! We have managed to cast aside all cool and unite Sunday evenings on www.roll20.net to virtually play D&D like we used to in college. There is something just too fun about rolling dice, chugging pints, and rolling D20s. I am not sure how many nerdy followers I have but I may put together a review of roll20.net and our adventures.
It was a hell of a weekend with lots of ground covered and much variety experienced and fun had by all. Packing that much beer, gaming, wife-points, sports, tourism and food into a weekend is what life is about! We even passed on a free cocktail party in the CN Tower because your don't get much higher than this.
Til next week, keep it beery and nerdy my friends.

Looks like your weekend was a blast!
Had a pinball machine once but did sell it because it was too loud. It was a revenge from Mars!
Cheers,
Peter
looks like you had a blast this weekend but unplugging... unheard of!
So you were down on the TO waterfront this past weekend .. were you in the vicinity of that Airbnb where the nasty dustup happened?
Ever check out the Wheatsheaf Tavern when you're in TO? It was my husband's favourite. He took me there once.
Are you going to make it to Olcutt, NY in June for the Blockparty II?
No violence where I was.
Wheat Sheaf is a place we have been a few times back in the day. Looks like it will close/is closed for a facelift? https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2019/07/wheat-sheaf-closing-after-170-years-toronto/ Great place.
I didn't know about the Blockparty! Where can I get details? I have a couple trips around that time but would love to be there.

Right on. I will leave that tab open til I have the chance to go through it all. Reads like War and Peace.
You going?
my goal is to be going. That hasn't been confirmed yet.
You certainly have been a busy boy!
Women are good luck charms when it comes to placing bets lol. Whenever we pop down tobthe casino for a little fun, Dave always makes me do the big (little) bets because I always win and he always loses everything hahaha!
