Are you Meek?

Matthew 5:5 says that "blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

Meekness is one attribute every child of God should possess. It is what differentiates a redeemed life from an unbeliever. Meekness simply means to be gentle, quiet and always ready to so what other people want without expressing your own opinion. It has to do with not having a big heart but being lowly in heart. It entails total submissiveness to God.

It is a virtue that is highly expected in Christian service. God wants us to obey His word completely without complaining. It is sad thing that so many Christians today find it difficult to be meek. Jesus Christ is our example of Meekness. We should learn from Him and emulate Him.

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. When you are meek and lowly, God will always lift you up. He says, He gives grace to the humble but to the proud, God resists. To inherit the earth means to live in plenty, to have all that would make living on Earth comfortable and cozy.

We see that from meekness comes gratitude and that great blessings belong to those who are meek. Meekness is perfect strength under control; a meek person though seaking softly can have a great and lasting impact on others. Hence, Meekness should not be seen or perceived as a weakness because it is a really great strength.

Also, when a man is meek, it allows for God to live within such person. God cannot condone or live within a proud man.

But I will live within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord. (Zephaniah 3:12

Moses exhibited this character to a remarkable degree more than all his contemporaries and significantly was decribed by God as His true servant. Jesus Christ did same, he was very meek and He charges us to learn from Him. You cannot fail in life when you learn from Jesus Christ.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

The good news is that when we are meek, we tend to find rest and peace of mind. Meekness portrays and shows true and absolute servant hood. It was a promised characteristic of the Messiah in our Lord Jesus Christ exhibited during his life here on Earth. Indeed, it is a ticket to our divine inheritance.

Do well to develop that lifestyle of Meekness as you go about your daily lives. It comes with it's advantages and blessings.

God bless you.
