John 18:37-38
Pilate, therefore, said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause, I was born, and for this cause, I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him at all. source
This passage of Scripture showcases to us that there was nothing wrong Jesus had done to be prosecuted. We even see that Pontius pilate concluded that he found no fault in him after interviewing him. Even in the present world, many people are still asking themselves these questions..what is Truth? Is truth relative? Quickly let me deal with that in the following responses;
- The Truth is eternal. It’s not in this world. It's not in any man. The reality/truth of life is in the unseen world that’s why we are instructed to walk by faith and not by sight. God is the origin/ source of Truth therefore if you want to live and walk in truth you need to get soaked in God.
The truth is a divine person Called “Jesus Christ.” Everything dwells in him (Christ) both things in Heaven and that on earth. Man needs to be liberated from lies by receiving Christ Jesus and seeking to understand the truth of his word.
The truth is the light of the world. When we walk in truth we walk in the light. The darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is all over the people who are not of the truth. We need to arise and Shine in the truth of the Gospel so that we liberate ourselves and many other people who are walking in the dark.
The Truth is the Righteousness of God. Not everything that is done by man is right according to God. The bible says that there is a way that seems right to a man but in the end, it leads a man to destruction. Absence of truth implies the existence of lies therefore if a man does not seek to live according to God’s standards which is his righteousness, he is bound to perish/ get harmed.
The truth is God's deep secret wisdom embedded in his word. It comes to a man by revelation. After an earnest seeking and tarrying in his presence. Therefore man needs to have a deep revelation in order to receive and understand the real truth of life.
The truth is God's power that breaks bondages and liberates a man from a demonic operation. When a demon-possessed man is prayed for in the name of Jesus, the darkness in him is driven out with great power that is in the truth of God's word.
The truth can never have fellowship with lies. Someone who is bound in lies will always resist the truth. Why? It's so because these two can never co-exist within a man and that's why scripture says in paraphrase that you either be hot for Jesus or cold for the devil. There is no middle ground. A man can't taste on the cup of the lord and also that of demons. He has to make a decision to stick to one.
