Pretty much anything, I realized really quickly on Steem (and now Hive) if I didn't laugh I'd probably cry.

Seriously though, I'd be class clown if I wasn't a dropout.

My first assumption when I saw your avatar was the Rabbit of Caerbannog. Little could be more terrifying. I find it comforting honestly, though.

Which is better, something that appears to be helpful and friendly but is actually capable of terminal violence and seeking means of penetrating your defenses by stealth towards that end, or something with the same purpose that looks the part?

Thanks!

I want to build a new RetroPie for my TV using a Pi 4 since it is a lot faster. Need to get a hold of one but they are have been price gouging as it was so new.

I really want to do that Time Machine ratio but I don't have the wood working chops.

I create random names for every site I join. When I joined Steem I had a hard time finding a name that wasn't taken, so I was double double names dogdog, froggyfrog, markymark type of names, I hate finding names not used. Themarkymark was free, I didn't think too much into it and the Mark Walburg reference.

I posted a lot of Firefly memes as I am a big fan of the show and someone made me a Firefly cover image so I just went in that direction. I wish I could have gotten the account @serenity. That would have been my top choice.

I have a few games I've been wanting to make. I just haven't done it as it is very difficult to make a game in crypto as everyone wants rewards and it is very difficult to make a game with rewards that people will continue to play that isn't gambling or a ponzi both being illegal and not something I want to be part of.

For marketing, I am very interested in this and thinking about ways how I can market my STEMGeeks community to onboard users with similar interests as me.

I also want to be part of efforts to market Hive in general and there are discussions starting on this.

0

small, medium and large gaming companies have tons of games that haven't made it into publishing.. just one of those mmogs with a decent game play and tokenized items / goods and reward system could IMHO be a hughe success

0
0
0.000
avatar

But people play those games for fun and because there is a lot of content. If Blizzard came to Hive and build a game with tons of content there would be no need for rewards and it would likely be successful.

0
0
0.000
avatar
(Edited)

yes.. for sure.. but the combination of both is what would make players addicted... just look at the past steem games.. the game design and tech was more or less early 2000s.. people played it only for rewards without having too much fun.. the now a day games are fabulous.. people play it for fun.. and in every game there is a reward system included (better weapons, levels, etc..) because the brain reacts to rewards, tips, money and tokens the same way it does to drugs... so the comibation of the two would be an addictive game (like pokemon go + earning cash with it).. maybe the killer app bringing hive to the masses

I'm with you here. I remember playing Everquest when it first launched and being amazed seeing people sell digital magical items on eBay for hundreds of dollars. Blockchain just takes out the middlemen and costs. Hive can make any in-game economy into a real world economy.

Rather than build from scratch, I think a Hive team could look at a partnership with an existing game or licensing software. Mindark and its Entropia platform have always come to mind.

I note that it is unlikely even hundreds of chickens could kill a lion. I say this having seen chickens that fed on cattle. Perhaps a slight adjustment to your battle simulator will produce more realistic results.

As much as I love Firefly, I think it is too late now. There are talks of a reboot though, but if we're in Fantasy land and we could have them back to back, I'd probably give up ever knowing about Game of Thrones. Season 8 was enough to ruin the entire thing.

what do you think will happen to steem and steemit in the long time?

0

avatar
(Edited)

If they keep freezing accounts they are going to likely get into legal problems and get delisted. I think they are already at risk for being delisted due to being so centralized they are pretty much an illegal security at this point.

The only thing going on Steem right now is censorship, stealing users tokens, known abusers being given large Steemit Inc delegation, and bribing users with Steemit Inc delegation and votes.

Prior to the stealing of tokens and censorship, I felt we would go in different directions, just that Hive would be much faster and have more potential. Now I have zero faith in Steem and it's future.

What is your current lunch obsession?

0

I just got over Grilled Cheeses and Ramen Noodles, now it's pretty much anything available. We don't go shopping much these days (once every few weeks).

Lunch tends to be leftovers from the night before. We have been doing pretty good about making groceries last for a couple of weeks but it requires a lot more meal planning than we have been used to.

Not being able to order out in a pinch really sucks.

Not being able to order out in a pinch really sucks.

Don't restaurants/normal takeouts deliver anymore? Here it seems like even the restaurants that never delivered are changing to doing delivery nowadays. Tonight I had a very great meal from one of my favourite restaurants that I wanted to support by buying one of their 'boxes for 2': it existed of Portuguese/Spanish/Arabic tapas, with fresh Focaccia bread that was still warm from the oven <3

I've also been lucky as it's easy to get groceries delivered once every week so I'm still eating Grilled Cheeses but also my recently discovered Feta/Pistache spread that I make with a lot of lemon and red pepper in it.

0
0
0.000
avatar

They do deliver, but we just don't want to take the risk. We order (and pickup) from a local roadhouse we love once every 2 weeks or so, we wipe everything container down and move all the food to our own plates and wash all our hands really well. It's a big pain in the ass.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Ahhh - I see. Yes, I 'calculated' the risk of ordering food, and decided I was okay with it. It's finding a balance that feels right though, and I can totally see why you wouldn't.

Stay healthy <3

Yes, thank you, if you look on arcange's stats you will see that 96k mvests are dormant in a number of whale accounts.
I presume that dormancy is subject to withdrawal.
What happens when 96k mvests hit the market?
Do we get a warning of a power down, or is it liquid?
Is it Ned's?

It is definitely not going away, and it is making my carpet lumpy.

It was but that one didn't respond in time and it got an airdrop anyway.

There is no reasonable assumption everyone is going to dump at once, the same stake was liquid on Steem for years.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Yes, while it is true that stake has been benign to this point, the odds seem, to me, to be stacked that that is stake of some folks that have worked against us in the past.
This doesn't have to be true, but I have no evidence one way, or the other.

I'm just trying to head this little surprise off at the pass.
If I had millions of USD I'd want to know, and not wanting to have another four years of work turned on its head by the same folks, I'd like to know.

It's past time to upgrade my coder skillz to script kiddie and start pulling my own numbers.

It is exciting and reassuring that we did the right thing to move away from Steem. I am not naive though and know this is 90% fomo.

0
0
0.000
avatar

I thought it was FOMO at first (Huobi listing), now I'm thinking there's something I don't know.

For example, there might be a Koinos airdrop to Hive holders which only some whale knows about. I figure you might know if this was the case as a witness.

If there's no hidden news of the sort, then I simply believe crypto is back in a bull market, and other coins will see similar price action soon.

0
0
0.000
avatar

There are two massive exchanges that listed Hive.

There is also a huge airdrop being held by Huobi based on how much Hive you are holding. There are many other factors like most of the whales on Steem are dumping Steem to buy Hive.

One of my biggest fears is swimming outside of pools. I am a big fan of swimming and hanging out in a pool, but swimming in the ocean and lakes creeps me the fuck out. I hate not knowing what is below me, not being able to see, and all the slimy stuff.

I do go to the beach and love being in the water, but I will hold my legs up trying to avoid the ground.

What is your criteria in curating content? By the way, are you curating?

0
0
0.000
avatar

Yes, I am curating, I vote over 120 unique authors weekly and all my voting power is used on others, my minimum vote is typical $3 when you factor in all my votes.

I typically start voting someone that I appreciate their effort, it is not a requirement for me to actually like their content, I vote a lot of people I don't like what they post about (because it isn't in my interest groups) but I appreciate the time and effort put into it.

Time, effort, and originality are big for me, I don't have to actually agree with what you write.

What determines what your profile picture will be?

Not the most exciting question we know, however we always look forward to what it will be next, great ones include the Firefly Captain and star of the Rookie Nathan Fillion better known as Captain Malcolm Reynolds :( greatly missed and of course Marty McFly, 'I think he took his wallet' and now a bunny, or a chinchilla, guinea pig something cute. Stay safe and you should do this every now and then, as should other Hive'ers.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Well it is always Mal Reynolds in my heart, but I will give you a story of the transition.

I started Steem on July 1st, 2017. I didn't actually do anything until July 22nd. On the 26th I set my profile image to Mal Reynolds from Firefly (my favorite show).

banner.png

Shortly after someone made me this cover image that I used since then.

That was 99% of my Steem history until the meeting with Justin Sun and Roy kept calling me different names, Marty being one of them. Being the jokester I am, I changed my profile image and cover image to go with the Marty McFly theme from Back to the Future. At this point my Steem life was dying, and Hive was being born.

When I came to Hive, I went with a Punisher theme, I wanted something different and was just one of the first things I thought of. Mainly because I like black and it looked cool, I planned on changing it later to something more interesting and have a custom profile image. It wasn't the great cover image, but I was just trying to get something up other than the Marty McFly theme.

12029.jpg

I was approached by someone shortly after saying my profile was too aggressive for someone who does anti-spam and abuse fighting, and I should do something less so. Being the wiseass I am, I just picked the cutest bunny I could pick and something that looked like a rainbow for the cover image that didn't get stretched to look awful.

Hope that helps, it was a wild ride.

0

0.000
avatar

Well great taste in sci fi, one of my favourite t's is Mal with I shoot First, your humour knows no bounds. Reading that made the profile saga become clear and made me laugh too, I also did wonder where the bunny came from, mystery solved - what a wild ride indeed.

I await the next potentially crazy profile pic, thank you

Not financial advice, and who knows what the prices of either may be in 24 hours much less 30 minutes. But I am selling my Steem immediately, I originally planned on selling 80% and keeping 20% in case Justin Sun pumps it, but at this point, I have zero confidence in Steem and the sock puppet witnesses running it.

I for sure feel like we made the right move to go in a different direction than Steem and the sock puppet witnesses. Every day that passes confirms that for me.

0

Yeah, sad that Steem becomes a centralized blockchain now. But an interesting learning came out. Blockchains have to fend off exchange attacks in their design. That is totally unreal.

I used to participate in many crypto project articles under cateredcontent on the Steem chain, and trust me, I have learned of "n" number of nefarious attack mitigation plans by those chains. Not one, absolutely none of them, spoke of a exchange attack. The Steem chain has warned the world of a new kind of attack. I guess, that is going to be part of all new designs.

Anyway, thanks for your time and thank you for your kindness which I just witnessed. :)

Does your quarantine menu only consist of grilled cheese sandwiches?

0

0.000
avatar

No, it's actually pretty good.

  • Chicken pot pie (I know this sounds boring, but the recipe is amazing)
  • Chicken Soup (amazing with pasta and a nice kick of spices)
  • Baked Ziti (Which sausage cooked for 6 hours in sauce or Hamburg)
  • Vegetable fried rice
  • Chicken broccoli alfredo
  • Spicy beef on white rice

I really can't complain about the menu. It's just so much more work as we have to plan which foods will expire when and cook them in the correct order, order 2-3x more than we normally would, and put 2x in the freezer to pull out after the first week of fresh foods (namely meats).

I find we are cooking a lot more and planning ahead a lot more.

Thanks for your time and attention @themarkymark!

For the same reason you (and me) get rewarded for posts, comments, and upvotes. We get rewarded tokens for also "typing on the keyboard"! lol...You also get rewarded for videos, gifs, memes, walking, talking, cooking, music, tutorials, games, etc... As a matter of fact, You are getting rewarded tokens right now for answering AMA questions, while "typing on a keyboard!" $31.20 as of the time of this comment:) So why is your post valuable? Because people want access to your time and attention. Regardless of the reasoning. Could be a silly comment/joke/knowledge/info/rewards etc...BUT, not everyone can achieve these level of rewards. So I feel that a system has to be put in place to even out the playing field.

Not to mention the Time, Effort, Work, and Attention that's Needed to fulfill the Contract. Other Things To Consider Are:

  1. Collateral that commits to the contract. Also, it gives value to the contract by putting your own liquid tokens "on the line". Failure to do so would default the HONEY Contract. Evenly distributing your collateral to others in the contract. (Per 24 Hour Period)
  2. Investment to buy said collateral/Equals a Higher Price.
  3. More consistency between posts. (Most peoples blogs look like this: $5 one day...$1.37 the next...$0.09 cents...$0.52 cents the next) This is not a sustainable model for the longer term. This will not keep the attention aspect. Unless you have a number of "whales" that support you...And nothing wrong with whales. Just being honest here. Most people can't get/stay on the trending page.
  4. HIVE "HONEY' bridges that gap, by utilizing your time, effort, and agreement. Difficulty, and the Collateral amount, can be adjusted per the communities consensus. Higher for more difficulty, or Lower for less difficulty.
  5. This is a UJI, or (Universal Job Income) for the HIVE Blockchain. Where everyone, can make a "consistent", and "specific" amount of tokens, everyday. NOT just purely based on speculation. This system could also be expanded to other Blockchains in the future.
  6. Gives more flexibility to bloggers who don't just want to earn money by blogging/posting/upvoting all the time.
  7. You are still working for HIVE with this contract. It is not given freely to you. You have to earn it based on your time/collateral.

Thanks again @themarkymark for reading my post/comments around this subject. Also giving me your feedback. I appreciate your time, and attention!

Alright, I'm going to ask a serious one this time. Hopefully I can get another one in, and it hasn't been more than a bit. It's basically the same instant in cosmological time after all.

Can you answer any of these questions?

That's sort of sneaky, since it's a few questions in one, but I didn't see many restrictions on what one can ask.

In case that turns out to be unacceptable, I'll include one singular question here as a backup.

Has the chain ID used in transaction signing changed since the hard fork from Steem?

Thanks for your consideration.

The chain id has not changed, but that's one of the key things in HF24 that will be addressed. It wasn't ideal but it was due to time limitations.

Thanks a lot.

That's useful to me, and now I'll know to keep an eye out for what it changes to after HF24.

So many hard forks around here.

I am not sure I understand the question.

It is a nonsense question.

I've never had a sober person be able to answer it, but for some reason drunk people can always definitively answer it.

White chocolate or dark chocolate?

white chocolate, the only problem is most is powdery and not very smooth. So in most cases, I'd just prefer dark chocolate, but good white chocolate is the best.

I like them both a lot but a big fan of white. I just avoid white unless it is high quality.

I don't trade votes with anyone and I don't respond to people asking me for votes, I don't ask for votes, and I vote as I please.

no idea, I can only guess.

I am here every day, and posted almost every day since I got here. I post on many topics not just the same stuff over and over. When I post I always try to offering value rather than talking about myself and being me me me. I spend a good amount of time creating tutorials and guides to help people out with more complex topics.

I honestly don't think I'm all that popular but I do better than average but nowhere near any of the popular bloggers.
