And... Did You Train How to be a Human?

I know that we can earn crypto here on Hive by blogging, and it's nice when you get some whale upvote on Hive, or in your tribe... But is it really all about the money? Do we really need "training" to be a "normal" person? To have compassion, to appreciate each other, to respect others?

These questions are going through my mind these days... I saw a couple of posts (and comments), in that couple of minutes that I had lately, about the problem of newcomers here on Hive, and how they leave the platform when they don't get an appreciation... I was also talking about this problem before, and I was trying to highlight these members in CTPTalk when I was in the TIA project... And, that IS the problem, but let's be honest with ourselves (and others) and look deeper into both sides involved...

Did You Train How To Be a Human.jpg

Created in canva.com

Let's start with ourselves... Users that are on the platform and should welcome these new members and show them the way... Ask questions, engage with new people, and follow them if they are in our "interest sphere"... Show them that this place isn't just about the money, it is about the community, about connections that you can make and that can last for your whole life... And what we are doing? We are running to comment on some whale posts just to get some upvotes, kiss asses of leaders to get their attention, whine how nobody likes us, and try to buy the place on the "big table"...

Newcomers to the platform... They usually come to this place because someone told them that they can earn money by blogging... And they do that... Create posts and wait for the money to come... And wait... and leave...

So, you get the point? Or, not? Both sides are money-focused and narrow-minded... Sometimes, I have a feeling that people see me like a bag of tokens, and not like a human, as a real person... Even if I put my face on the camera and show it to them... We are not robots, this platform isn't a game, and people that you meet here aren't actors or a piece of code inside the program... They are humans, like YOU!

So, why don't you treat them as you treat yourself? You have to build your profile, your image, your reputation, your respect... You can't buy that... And it will not happen overnight... Deal with it!

And I have to rant a bit more... Then I see people after 5-6 months of posting here, thanking for a NUGGET where someone said that they should REPLY on the comments posted on THEIR posts... Like, C'MON! Does someone have to tell you that? You didn't know that? Feel it?

Let's be a bit more humans and less greedy MFs and we will make this world a better place...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Nah... No one specific... It just blows my mind how some people act like robots, without respecting others... I am about learning and improving yourself, but you can't automatize and fake respect...

Thanks for the comment... Appreciate your concern!

"Greed is good" -Gordon Gekko" (circa 1987) 😁

Seriously though, I get your point but at the same time you never know where different motivations could lead. In other words, those who are in it for the rewards can also gain a sense of community and connect with others on a more substantial level. It takes all kinds, right?

I wonder how much can we really expect from virtual social interactions, especially when the foundation of a platform has incentives built-in to the DNA to help encourage engagement.

Agree... You are talking about making much stronger bonds and creating real, long time friendships... And that is very possible to happen, and it happened to me a couple of times on different platforms (forums, websites, chats)... But, to reach that level, you have to have the basics... I was writing more about that... just to observe the other person as a person...

It's not even the community in the question... just the basic human thing...

Yes for sure. The depth of your inquiry has substantial existential implications on human behavior and what drives it, imo. I think perception is a key, which I why I mentioned the platform.

But it the broader sense, do you think the virtual nature of interaction has something to do with it?

Do you know what the "new" human is... It's ME, ME, ME and only ME...

That is the problem not only here on the blockchain but about everywhere in the world. I believe that people are so full of themselves and their problems that they lost one very important capacity which is empaty or to try to figure out how the other feels or at least care about the other.

I would like to share a little story that points this out:

I'm a part time cross country ski teacher and every season I give a couple of lessons when there is snow. Last weekend the government imposed new rules here and everything has to close on sundays. So last sunday it was sunny and there was some snow. So that everybody went up into the hills to go skiing. Since everything was closed, almost everybody had the same idea. The result, the road into the hills had to be closed down.

Now one of my teacher friends had a lesson. Since the road was blocked, he left the car on the street side and went up the last kilometeres on skiis to give his lessons. One of his students could get through and they could have the lesson. The next student didn't make it because the road was totally closed.

This student was so angry that he sent a mail to the school, the teacher and the manager telling everybody to f** themselves. He made a long way to go there and why they didn't let him go up the road. Probably because we didn't need the money and didn't care the customers...

What I want to point out is that they guy only saw how he couldn't get what he wanted. He made abstraction that there were litterally hundred of cars blocking the road...

I think we can do better. Try to avoid to focus only on ourselves. Try to feel empaty and make the world a little bit better...

OMG another novel... sorry man LOL

I am aware of that... But, still... It's hard to accept it... I admit...

And I like the story... When times are hard (as it was in your story), people are thinking about themselves first... and if we accept what you said in the beginning, and most of the people are egoistic, we have double ME-ME situation... God help us... :)

The more people are worried and stressed, the less they can feel empaty and think about others. Exactly ... gold help us :-)

Normally, I am a huge optimist about the human race in general, but yes, I feel so much resonance in your words .... maybe I am naive, but why is it difficult for people to be nice to one another? I never understood that...

Now, of course, we all have our experiences from birth that might color our vision & our perception as to how humans are. It's those traumatic experiences that shape our reality into something it may not actually be outside of our sphere... it's understandable but it doesn't condone the attitudes....

When I see the division that seems to be growing each day, whether it's on the blockchain or in the world, it becomes extremely frustrating, esp. when you know you yourself wouldn't be hateful or unkind...

We forgot the real reason why we are all here in this life - to connect & have compassion for one another. Learn from others; not the "my way or highway" attitude...

Let's agree to disagree... let's uplift one another even if we are going different paths. Let's truly be happy for one another when one achieves success or goals in life. Let's just be REAL & truly CARE...

The longer this disassociation & division continues, the harder it will be to come back from it...

It's such a simple thing & I don't know about you, but I think we all win when we are kinder to one another... it's a ripple effect so if kindness prevailed, the world would win.

Thanks for addressing the elephant in the room. I hope it helps people out there because this reminder was really needed. Thank you for being a light in the world. 💚

but why is it difficult for people to be nice to one another? I never understood that...

In some way, @achim03 answered this question... It's all about "me, me, and me" society... People care too much about their look, clothes, image... and on the other side careless (or don't care at all) about their "inner-self" and others...

Let's just be REAL & truly CARE...

And this should be another big point... TO BE REAL... It's always easier (more fancy) to be as someone else, to copy, to pretend to be perfect...

The world was always a kind of a big stage with actors, screenplay writers, cameraman, etc... But, you know how it goes in Hollywood... Everyone wants to be a STAR...
