In the beginning, I would like to credit Alison Croggon, an Australian novelist for this awesome quote that you see in the title (and subtitle) of this post... It says a lot, and it is the topic that I was talking about in my vlog... Or, it is almost the topic, as I went a bit wider... :)

I was already talking about the "knowing everything" attitude, but I got reminded again of that by my good friend while we were chatting... That led me to some other topics about blocking ourselves from learning new things, and not just that, disrespecting others that want to help us to understand things... I have to admit that I have also problems when I have to ask someone for a favor, or explanation... But, that's another thing...

If you get an answer, information, or explanation about something from someone, you should, at least listen carefully and respect the time and the goodwill of your friend, teacher, or whoever is helping you... Maybe I'm a bit "old-fashioned", but respect is something that I have been learned from my childhood...

Anyway, I don't want to go deeper into everything again, you will find plenty of thoughts about this inside the video... Please check it out...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

That's what I also try to teach people in my circles. You don't have to know everything, but you should know how or where to get the information or from whom.

And we should also be more open-minded. That's how we learn and potentially grow as human beings

but you should know how or where to get the information

This is true! And if you think that you know everything, it is hard to recognize (and allow) others to teach you...

we should also be more open-minded

Oh, yes... This is a must... If we aren't open-minded, we will stay in the same place whole of our life... Tbh, I have a feeling that our society is in that state at the moment... We can't advance because we close ourselves and stick with current thinking, current "solutions" (that don't work, obviously), in a fear of change...

Yes, not only international, but also local news is showing how closed off people have become. The majority wants to have their say and do not want an open discussion. It's now "my way or the highway", which is truly sad. We should listen to understand and not listen to react 🙈

When you have people around you that know everything it's getting very boring after a while because they don't want to learn anything from you and it ends up often in a one way discussion where you are just supposed to listen to their wisdom LOL

Hahahaha... Did I say that in my video? Or you have read my mind? It was exactly like that in my chat with my friend... I was that guy that was nodding with head...
It isn't a conversation, it becomes a monologue, as the "other side" never listens...

Exactly, from experience it's exactly how such conversations go when you have a "know it all" in front of you LOL

I will like to extend the qoute.

There is no shame in not knowing something, the shame is in not being willing to learn.
Further shame lies in not applying what you have learnt and keep idling.

Oh, yes... Knowledge without action and usage is worth nothing!
Thanks for the comment!
