Giving 3Steps.Today a pivotal change in direction (and a much needed refresh in content)

Giving 3Steps.Today a pivotal change in direction!

The overarching strategy I am working on with my 3 Steps Today site is:

Deliver Great Content (Value) to Paid Members on How To Win by Taking 3 Steps Daily.

I broke that down into 3 parts:

  • Great Content on How To win By Taking 3 Steps Daily - Discussed below.
  • Gaining Members - Let's call them members because really it's a membership that matters. Subscribers read what you write. Members contribute. :) There's a lot to this part, but I have an existing funnel that works that I am modifying and working on. Then I increase the paid traffic and scale once I have this solid like I want it.
  • Upgraded ie. PAID Memberships - This is the monetization portion. I need additional value and quality content in order to differentiate free vs. paid members. I've read up on membership site ownership and subscribe to CTP's Inner Circle where I listen to some rather large membership site owners. This is obviously the last part to add, since I will be working to provide value through the site consistently to build an audience before I think about monetization. I need to read more and research this thoroughly. I know it's a valid business model based on the success of others.

While I'm doing the research and planning, I can still create a great site with plenty of traffic before I get to this far along, giving me time to adjust my plan on this part based on the choices I make.

I broke out my whiteboard and began writing and drawing arrows until I had a better understanding of my plan and what to do.

Great Content - Help Wanted!

I don't want to write tripe. Good content takes effort.

Therefore good content takes time. Breaking this down even further, here are some of the items that would easily fit under content for 3 Steps.Today:

  • Daily Reminder to members to actually DO the 3 Steps.
  • Follow-along videos\livestream that shows me literally taking 3 steps on promoting my business. Teaching by demonstration is always a win.
    • This is also a differentiator. Others may write about it, but doing the 3 steps myself adds validity to the actions (and generates content). Why tell others if I won't do it myself? That's some pretense right there. No thanks.
  • "How To" posts on S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, time management, pomodoro, etc. - I have been using some of these items at work for a while and it's efficient.
  • long-term Case Study using my dad jokes and my 10K subs on Facebook. - I can write a post once a week or so on how dadjokesnmemes.com is doing.
  • Motivational encouragement to folks that are on my followers list, etc. - This is something that I enjoy. What better way to create content than to find a way to build up others.

Each one of those would be a valid stream of content and provide me with plenty of ideas.

Bank of topics ready to write? Check!

Re-doing 3 Steps Today means that I have a good deal of existing content I can now use because it's more general and not specifically about the 3 main tools themselves. I can save those for backend parts of my funnel.

Keep it simple.

But before I run off wildly, I still need to break many steps down, and calculate cost. Things like:

  • Create content templates\signatures written,
  • Narrow my focus severely and come up with ONE direction among the content ideas, etc.
  • Start editing the pile of articles and hone them into my #PlanActEval formula.
  • Schedule time in the morning early before my day job to get my daily tasks done.
  • Prioritizing my content towards my new end goal.

That's it for now. I'll continue to post my progress on the facelift. :)

Peace and Love,

-Rob

Fantastic to see that you are working to update your site with new and great value content Rob, and as you said good content takes time, and I know you can make it happen so best of luck with it and stay !ALIVE

Thanks @flaxz.alive . I am working on just putting time on my calendar to work on this and go slow so that I don't overlook things. I also have to moderate the amount of time I spend until my doc says I can do more. I can't strain my thinking. If I hit any of my warning signs\symptoms in my thinking, I have to stop and step away for a bit until I am better. But those times are very few and far between if I work on just going slow and writing everything down.

Thanks. I like writing, I just have to rate-limit myself, My day job and family responsibilities come first, but I can do this as well as long as I am methodical, not over-reaching, and I just break everything into small pieces. Good to see you around as well.

That is a foundational key that a lot of people miss. Breaking it down into smaller pieces. When I am unable to do this failure is imminent👍

Those three steps are are a good way to invest your time. I might need to manage my own schedule a bit more as well.

What do you currently to manage your schedule?

I have several tools that I use in tandem for my own way of tracking my time and scheduling. Always interested in knowing the tools and techniques people use. @lisamgentile1961 has an entire business idea behind this (my1440.Today).

I just use google calanders for the most part. Anything important gets put there and everything else is really done at my own pace. I can probably improve this and I know it's not the best.

All these are excellent ways to manage time, and get your investments on your self-growth with no excuses and great mail 📦 too.

Thanks Jon. I am going slow so I don't over-extend my time. I have more safeguards in place to prevent me from tunnel-vision focusing too much so that I won't overreach.

Three steps and three well-organized concepts that will undoubtedly give results. It is a good way to "invest" time and money.
What do you think is the best way to get followers on hive?

Engagement works. I find that following others then mentioning it in a comment also works. For example, I noticed that I wasn't following you just now, so I followed you. Many times, just doing that for accounts you enjoy following works well. I don't follow everyone every time, because I like to keep a curated feed of follows within Hive

Indeed! good content takes time and effort. I always get baffled with authors that dish out great posts daily.

The part about narrowing your focus is something that I have a lot of trouble doing, wish you good luck.

Sounds like a good plan. I think the toughest part to invest in is the paid membership side.

In 2008 I started a paid membership PLR article service, which meant I was committed either to creating consistently good quality plr content myself, or outsourcing the job to a professional article writer. Even when I outsourced, I still took some time to proofread and edit the articles that came back.

I wonder if, instead of going for a paid membership model, you went for a tokenized model on the Hive blockchain... with your own token and a blog for members to post about their 3-steps...

As ever, your content provides some good food for thought.

Nice post, Rob. Sometimes the best way to invest in our future is to re-evaluate what we are doing today. Looks like you have done that and have put together a plan to better help you reach your goals. Keep up the good work. !PIZZA

Thanks. Out of the 3 steps in my process ( 1.Plan, 2.Act, 3.Evaluate), it's always #3 that me (and others I find) stop. We don't take time to reflect on what we've done, and if there were places we can improve.

I think for the time being I am going to stick to the one post a week and commenting on and upvoting other posts the rest of the week. You have a great plan started. I enjoy reading what you write. Just not sure right now what I want to build out. So instead of completely stopping, like I did last summer, I will keep going slowly till I figure it out.

Invest .... that's a lot of what I'm here for.

In reading your article, the one thing I think holds me back the most is writing quality content. I often don't think of my stuff as quality and I don't have a business of my own. I just try to share my stories and hope that they help someone along the way.

My friend! Glad to see you on the ListNerds richlist. For me it's the time tradeoff. My day job pays very well. So when I am off work, I want to max my time to earnings ratio. First I need to start with the revamp of the site. Maybe you can bring this up as a topic (owning a business or the building up of an idea) on the next inner circle zoom.
