A scam, a farce for money and rewards.

That's what they said when they were talking about me and my family. But How can you assume stuff when you read my words and you do it in a second language that you have learned? How can you judge if the painting is real or a copy if you are watching it on a screen? Or even worse... How can you assure that my family takes advantage of western naivety when you haven't lived with us, when you haven't seen the real shortcomings and pain, coming from a political society that doesn't respect us?

Today I'm going to tell you an unhappy story. This is the story of how three ships, propelled by oars and sails, reached the Venezuelan coast when the first cities had not yet risen. Under the mandate of the Spanish Crown, Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus) and his horde of looters, abusers and ex-prisoners arrived at the Venezuelan coasts and decreed the lands "Discovered". In the name of the Catholic kings who ruled Spain for the time being, they raped the girls and women they met, kidnapped them in their camps to satisfy their pleasures, subdued and killed the caciques who tried to defend them, forcing them to give in little by little to the injustice that reigned in the 1500s. Of course, history would have been different if cartoonists, poets, musicians and anthropologists interested in building in this world where La Paz reigned had arrived on those ships.

Venezuela was an indigenous area from the beginning to the end, tribes from the coasts fought to the end, the courage of the Caribs was extraordinary, but there were also those who thought of their survival rather than defending something they could not. Some tribes began to work for the Spaniards by becoming their local hunters, Indians who knew the jungles and mountains, expert and well-qualified men for the job. Thus the Spaniards made their way and under intelligence strategies they reached the mining arc where lay not only the riches they were looking for, but also the spiritual riches that men with knowledge of nature respected so much.

Shaman Rufino speaks of Wajari as a god who wore ostentatious pieces of metal and precious stones, armor made of gold. He talks about how it is the representation of tribes that exploited the riches of our land causing an imbalance in it. The coincidence of what I am telling you is that those tribes that dressed in gold, did not survive since they were the target of the Spaniards, who stole everything they could and took the lives of those who worked for them, nothing new. All? they were daily occurrences of the "conquest and discovery".

The Piaroas Indians occupied an extensive territory of the Amazon, when the "giants " arrived they hid, moved their settlements to the mountainous edges of the jungle where they dominated the terrain. Few tried to look for them thanks to the hostility of the jungle and knowing that there were no diamonds in those areas, they just left them in peace and this was not the work of luck but the work of the caciques and shamans who sought to protect their gold "The Yopo".

Thus the years passed, the Creoles won their "Independence", we began to lead a society a little more free, diverse political systems were created, some offering more than others and giving less than all, we mixed with Jews, Portuguese, Arabs, obviously also with Spaniards and thus one thing led to another, the culture and our roots were lost among the propaganda of happy boxes in McDonald.

The diversity of skins and beliefs was enormous, but that made everyone feel identified with the rest of the world, the Venezuelan who is out there tries to adapt to the environment and in 50% of the times, after he went out is that he appreciates his country. The other 50% no longer see hope here and if they have to pretend that they were born in China they will do it contal of not having to go through the shame of being identified as Venezuelan citizens. But in the case of 90% of the general population, nobody identifies with their indigenous roots.

Everyone adapted their beliefs to foreign gods, no one knows who Puruna or Chejeru is, no one recognizes that within themselves a natural power, there is no longer an awareness of our place on earth as children of nature. They forgot their Gods by changing them for those who were in fashion and not only that, they are no longer able to understand those who live in harmony with the jungle, they point out their practices for being different and seek to change or convert them, because it is more logical that we forget where we came from.

The years are nothing, times change and we have adapted to global pollution, to exploitation between brothers, we have adapted to corruption and we continue in the plan to move forward without looking back, when it turns out that at some point we will have to go back in order to live, because this planet can no longer stand so much irrationality.

In a community where we no longer trust anyone, we must abandon hatred of the unknown, the desire to want to be better, abandon the mental warfare of reason, learn to accept and see the goodness in the acts of those I do not know, simply because there is no reason to assume the worst instead of the best.

I am Venezuelan with Creole parents, I found my way in my roots, I like the joropo and I defend the chocolate of my land. I look into the eyes of my ancestors with pride, and I defend my values no matter what others think. I believe in the love and harmony that comes from sharing and helping each other. If after talking to you about me you still feel that there is a little bit of evil in my heart, I hope you can try to know me to advise me, instead of judging me.

I end with this phrase: "You cannot see the evil in a brother's heart when there is no such evil in your heart".

My wishes of Love, light and well-being for you in one word "Adiwa!
